Exclusive Marvel Legends ALPHA FLIGHT Set Revealed & Up for Order!

The last few years, Hasbro has always saved a little something extra to reveal at Fan Expo Canada. In 2017, it was the Marvel Legends Sasquatch Build-A-Figure. And in 2018, Hasbro debuted Wendigo and Guardian. But this year, Hasbro wasn’t stopping at premiering just one or two figures–they dropped the curtain on an entire six-figure team set: the Amazon Exclusive Marvel Legends Alpha Flight figures box set is now up for order! If you’ve been waiting for NorthStar and Aurora, dreaming of Snowbird or trying to save up for a Puck BAF, this is the set for you!

Marvel Legends Alpha Flight Box Set Figures Packaged

As I was taking the review photos for the Marvel Legends X-Force Series Guardian figure that I’ll be posting in the next few days, I was not at all confident that we’d be seeing the remainder of the Alpha Flight team released to go along with Guardian anytime soon–if ever.

But my cynicism was unwarranted and Hasbro clearly had other ideas–because at Fan Expo Canada today, they announced a completely unexpected six-figure box set that fills in all of the most essential members remaining from the Alpha Flight lineup!

Marvel Legends Northstar Aurora Vindicator Figures

In one fell swoop, we’ll be getting five new characters and one reissue of an extremely sought-after and expensive Build-A-Figure from a half decade ago! The Amazon Exclusive Alpha Flight Marvel Legends set includes:

  • Puck Build-A-Figure
  • Vindicator
  • Aurora
  • Northstar
  • Shaman
  • Snowbird

This obviously doesn’t fill in every member of the team ever–and you’ll still have to pick up an X-Force Legends Guardian figure and a ML Sasquatch BAF off the aftermarket–but at least the core team can now be completed for a relatively inexpensive price.

Marvel Legends Shaman Snowbird Puck Figures

Yowza!! What a crazy surprise treat this is! I well and truly never believed that we would see characters like Shaman ever released again after the Bowen Designs mini-bust a decade ago. Congratulations are in order for all of the big fans of Canada’s premiere super team who never lost hope that these characters would be captured in 6″ super-articulated form!

Wolverine Legends Marvel Legends Puck Build-A-Figure Hasbro 2013

It’s especially gratifying to see the re-release of the Build-A-Figure Puck figure from the 2013 Wolverine Legends series that came out years ago, as that Marvel Legends Puck BAF alone had been selling for $100-$200 on the aftermarket up until today–basically, the full cost of this $109.99 box set and then some! My heart goes out to those who paid the big bucks for this little guy just recently, though!

Marvel Legends Alpha Flight Exclusive Box Set Cover

It’s worth noting that you should all choose the “Ship in Amazon Packaging” checkbox at checkout to make sure that Amazon actually ships this exclusive set inside of a real shipping box and doesn’t just slap a label on the collector’s box itself and send it through the mail. A gorgeous packaging job like this one deserves better than being ruined going through the postal system unprotected!

Amazon EXCLUSIVE Marvel Legends Alpha Flight 6-Pack Figures Set Box Back

The Amazon Exclusive Marvel Legends Alpha Flight Box Set is now up for order, and is scheduled to be released in December 2019. With a surprise release of a niche team like this, I truly have no idea what kind of quantities this six pack is going to be made in, but I’ve reserved my set already regardless, and I’d recommend anyone who knows for certain that this roster is a must for their collection to do the same.

Did your jaw drop when you saw this set announced today, Marvel collectors? Are you set for this lineup once this box set arrives, or is there still room in your heart and home for an expansion to the team with characters like Marina and Box?

Exclusive Marvel Legends ALPHA FLIGHT Set Revealed & Up for Order! — 29 Comments

  1. I am one of the bigger Alpha Flight fans in this world, so jaw did drop, yes. And then I quickly clicked the link to pre-order before any other thoughts registered in my brain.

I am very very disappointed in Aurora’s face though. It’s just… ugly. Her beauty is one of her defining features. This looks sculpted by an amateur. Otherwise, I can’t wait for December and I’d love to have a Marrina or Box figure in my collection as well as Talisman and some members of Omega Flight.

Last thought: as I pre-ordered this, I had flashbacks (Omega Flight pun there…) of pre-ordering Professor X from Amazon and having my pre-order cancelled. I will never forgive them for that, and now I worry every time I pre-order anything from them. It’s not really a pre-order to reserve anything if the company can just go “whoops, I didn’t get enough of them. Sorry!” It’s always wait and see now.

    • Unfortunately, the straight cases of Professor X that Amazon was anticipating were cancelled, leaving them high and dry. It was a real pain in the butt even for me to track down a Professor X, but this set will thankfully be different since it’s Amazon’s own exclusive and not subject to allocation unless something disastrous happens. Phew!

    • I will happily buy your Aurora off you if you are willing to sell. I like the head. Alternatively, my offer stands for just her head. If you wanted to simply swap out her head for one that matches your definition of beauty and want to sell the original head. Shoot me an email if you ‘re interest.

  2. Oh… Marrina has two R’s. And thanks so much for the reminder about choosing Amazon packaging. I never would have seen that, and would have gotten a beaten up box with figures hanging out the sides. 🙂

  3. Pretty stoked for this set. Although I do think it is safe to count out the slightly secondary characters now. At least for a while.

I didn’t check the ship in amazon box option but fortunately I am not an MOC collector so my Amazon fulfillment center is free to beat the crap out of it. As long as my figures come in tact, I will be content lol

  4. Thanks for reminding us about the Amazon packaging adjustment. I went back, cancelled my first order, then reordered the set using the “This is a gift order” feature and chose Free Shipping once again. But how about that Shaman? This is his very first action figure EVER, if memory serves! What a sweet surprise this has been! Thanks again for the heads-up and link!

  5. Wow! I’ve always been a sucker for superheroes groups, especially when they’re the founding members (well maybe Puck isn’t a founder) so I definately have to get this set. Hope Marrina comes along soon.

  6. These look pretty good, but Alpha Flight has always been a “meh” team for me. I had Vindicator, Northstar, and Aurora during the Toybiz years. While I would like to pre-order these now, I still have the Jean Grey 3 pack and Havok and Polaris shipping that same month in December. On top of that, I have two kids that “Santa” has to shop for. I’ll probably wait until the new year or wait a bit and watch this dip in price a little bit. Patience is key, for a mediocre team.

  7. That Snowbird with her cape made the way it is gives me renewed hope for a FA Storm! Can’t wait to get this set!! Love me some Alphas!

  8. Cool.
I was really hoping we’d see a Talisman figure at some point. This is definitely bringing that closer to reality.

  9. Amazing… I didn’t click “Ship in Amazon Packaging”

BUT – I did go back and clicked on GIFT WRAPPING so hopefully it goes in a proper box

  10. I just called Amazon – No way to change my order to “Ship In Amazon Packaging”

The woman canceled my order once I ordered a new one and clicked on “Ship In Amazon Packaging”

You need to go to HELP on the Amazon page and type in CUSTOMER SERVICE

  11. I love that we’re getting this set. And I want Aurora in her 2nd costume (yellow/back/ white), Box (Blue or Red original design and Brown and Silver Jim Lee design), Talisman, and Marina. Oh, and Jade Dragon. Purple Girl, too. Dream Queen!!!

  12. Not a huge Alpha Flight fan, but this is nice on a couple of levels: great for Alpha Flight fans, and great for those of us who don’t like to see team-building get stretched out over years and waves.

Personally, i’m pretty happy with Sasquatch and Guardian, who were always my favorites of the bunch.. but if this set somehow sticks around long enough to hit discount/sale price, i may grab it.

Feels like they skimped on accessories, though. For instance, shouldn’t Aurora and Northstar be able to hold hands? i seem to remember they could generate a blast of light together or something.

An alternate ‘enraged’ sasquatch head would have been a sweet bonus.. or an alternate classic wendigo head, maybe.

I’m surprised they didn’t somehow work a wolverine figure into this set.

  13. Alpha Flight was a team that never really “clicked” with me, not my favorites but I don’t hate them or anything. They’re sorta just…there (other than Sasquatch and Puck, I’ve had a soft spot for them because of Capcom’s War of the Gems game).

That said, this is still a really cool surprise. All the figures look good, especially Shaman and Snowbird. I may have to pick this up.

  14. Kudos to Hasbro on taking the box set approach, although I would have preferred Marrina in the set because I have Puck. This gives me some hope that Hasbro may come out in the future with other box sets to “complete” other “groups” with some characters that would not likely come out individually:

    1) Agents of Shield Box Set – Dum Dum Dugan, Jasper Sitwell, Gabe Jones, Val de Fontaine, and Jimmy Woo

    2) Inhumans Box Set – Triton, Gorgon, Karnak, Crystal, Maximus and of course…. Lockjaw

    3) Asgardian Box Set – Odin, Frigga, Balder, Heimdall, Fandral, and Volstagg.

  15. I’ve been waiting for Northstar, Wiccan, Hulkling, Anole, and Rictor to show up at some point to represent the queer dudes (that Marvel has been so great at representing). So, even though I’ve never been a huge fan of AF, I’m buying the set. I’ve enjoyed your site for years, and really appreciated the heads-up on this pre-order.

Now, where is the Young Avengers set? 😉

  16. As a Canadian collector, consider my mind blown! Also, the pictures seem to show that this new Puck has a larger, more proportional head than the BAF version. Which is most excellent!

The amount of ML that Hasbro is pumping out this year is pretty insane, especially with the Jim Lee X-teams, definitive versions of the big Avengers, the last of Spiderman’s classic rogue gallery, and now the classic lineup of Alpha Flight. Makes me wonder how they intend to follow up on this…

  17. I dunno, it’s weird cause I’m like, “This is awesome…but I only actually want 1 out of the 6 characters.”
Don’t get me wrong, the set is amazing and (for fans of the team) a box set is perfection. I personally just wish it was a wave of individuals cause Northstar has been on my want list for oh so long. I would have bought Shaman too cause Magic Users = 😍

  18. Love the idea of box sets to complete teams instead of stretching them out over years. Top of my want list – classic Thunderbolts. Mach-1, Meteorite, Techno, Atlas, and Jolt. Make Atlas a 9 or 12″ figure and sell it at the same price as this.

  19. Awesome! Pre-order placed. And even as an international customer living in Europe, I was able to order this for quite a reasonable price, with only about 13 bucks shipping and free customs handling (can’t blame Amazon for the import taxes, but this way at least I won’t have to pay any additional administrative charges… ah, the joy of living in Europe). I also picked the ship in Amazon packaging option, as I would like to receive this in good condition. 🙂

    • Looking forward to this set as well as what other boxed set exclusives are in store for 2020
