It’s been a while since I’ve made a post about new Funko POP Vinyls exclusives, but the king of exclusives is back at it again! And this time, we’re getting a “Superior Spider-Man” POP Vinyl and a trio of Rainbow Deadpool figures based off of the “Deadpool Mercs for Money”! All four are going to be exclusive to Hot Topic (with the Deadpools available online Wednesday night 3/9), but are these variants all that they’re cracked up to be…?
But whereas the DC Mystery figure in each box would be one of four different black-and-white characters (with Harley Queen being the rare Chase), the newest blind-box series will be three different colors of Deadpool Mercs for Money team members!
Based off of artwork from recent Deadpool comic books, the following three Funko POP Exclusives will hit stores this week:
#141 – Foolkiller – Blue Deadpool
#142 – Solo – Green Deadpool
#143 – Terror – Magneta (Purple) Deadpool
For those who are trying to stay completists as far as unique characters and unique number designations in the collection go, note that all three of these wacky-colored Deadpool POPs are going to be necessary.
Although all three share the original katana-wielding DP mold, they get their own numbers since they’re technically unique characters, even if they are all repaints of a preexisting mold.
But wait–! If you want to own all three colored Deadpool POPs, it won’t be as easy as snagging them from a local Hot Topic store or the online site, because each figure is blind-boxed, and the ratios are not even.
According to the official Hot Topic unboxing video, the ratios for this Mystery Deadpool trio are as follows:
#141 Foolkiller Blue (1/3)
#142 Solo Green (1/3)
#143 Terror Purple/Magenta (1/8) — CHASE
Now, I am well aware that those ratios do not add up to 1 and the percentage odds do not equal 100% (but rather around 80%), but those are the official numbers Hot Topic announced, which happen to just not make sense. Don’t ask me who does their math–just assume that the Terror Purple Deadpool will be the rare one, okay?
Also, it’s worth mentioning that while Terror is being called the “Purple Deadpool” around the internet, it’s actually Slapstick who wears the purple costume. Terror wears the Magneta/Pink costume.
What Funko is supposedly calling “Superior Spider-Man” is just the original #3 Spider-Man vinyl figure with the blue parts of Spidey’s costume painted black. While these are technically the right colors for the Doc Ock Spider-Man, the costume is all wrong. This Superior Spider-Man is scheduled for March 2016, with no official release date set.
The Mystery Deadpool POPs will be available online on Wednesday 3/9 at 9:30PM PST, and will be available in physical Hot Topic stores at opening on Thursday 3/10/2016. Everything Deadpool is nuclear-hot right now, so be ready to order these vinyls as soon as they go up for sale if they’re on your must-own list.
What do you think of this newest quartet of Funko Marvel POP Vinyl exclusives, Marvel collectors? Are you intent on owning your own “Superior Spider-Man” or rainbow of Deadpool Mercs for Money?
Agreed that is NOT superior Spider-Man…
Yeah, got really excited when i saw the post on Reddit about the new Spider-Man Pop figure, then searched as much as i could and found the Hot Topic preview video that showed him and revealed it was just a repaint….such a let down, but i will add him to my collection when he becomes available.
Madcap is actually the one who wears the purple costume. Slapstick is yellow.
