There’s some good news and some bad news for Marvel Hot Toys collectors today. The good news is that one of this year’s less-anticipated figures is getting pushed forward by several months. The bad news is that two of this year’s most-anticipated releases are delayed by up to half a year each. If you’re waiting for the Hot Toys Heartbreaker Iron Man and Iron Man Mark 42 MMS figures (like me), you’re going to have to wait a while more than you hoped…
How early? How about February? As in–this month. Yup–the Wolverine Hot Toys 1/6 figure has been moved up from a spring/summer release and is coming at us just in time to miss Valentine’s Day (awwwwww).
This has been a very weird trend by Hot Toys, lately, delivering Movie Masterpiece Series figures like Mandarin, The Wolverine, and The Mechanic Tony Stark early. I loved “The Wolverine” movie and am not going to complain, though. If only Hot Toys saw fit to grace us with a Yukio figure from the movie as well, all would be right with the world! (Although, to manage expectations, I’d say the chance of Hot Toys producing a Yukio MMS are exactly zero.)
And now the bad news: as feared, several of the Hot Toys Iron Man 3 Movie Masterpiece Series figures are being pushed back. Way back. The Hot Toys Iron Man Mark 42 armor–my single favorite movie Iron Man armor (for reasons I’ll resist going off on a tangential rant about right now)–has been delayed a full half-year, from its original release date of January 2014 to July 2014.
Given the positive buzz surrounding the awesome just-released Die-Cast War Machine Mark II Hot Toys figure, it’s a major bummer to hear that we’ll be waiting another five months (or more) to add the Hot Toys Mark XLII to our Halls of Armors. It’s worth noting that both the regular and exclusive War Machine Die-Cast MMS figures have already sold out within two weeks of release–you might want to lock in a pre-order for the Hot Toys Iron Man Mark XLII armor now if you want one.
In addition to the Mark 42, the fan-favorite Hot Toys Heartbreaker Iron Man MMS figure has also been delayed by half a year. Instead of arriving in February 2014 as expected, the Hot Toys Iron Man Heartbreaker Mark 17 figure will now be released in August 2014. That’s a real heart breaker, huh? (Don’t hit me.)
I’ve updated the Marvel Hot Toys 2014 Release Schedule accordingly to coincide with these release date changes, and you can check out the release schedule to see exactly what months Hot Toys will be collecting a huge chunk of your income for the rest of 2014.
Are you happy about having another half a year each to pay for these two super-popular Hot Toys Iron Man 1/6 figures? Or are you bummed out that you’re going to have to wait so much longer for them, Marvel fans?
I was notified by sideshow last week about the mk 42 delay, but the wolverine move up is a shocker to me. Kind of throws my whole budget off a few months but its workable and welcome as thats one of my most anticipated figures this year other than Loki and Thor!
HOPEFULLY we’ll hear something soon concerning the Cap 2 and Guardians lineup
Incredibly disappointed. Not only by yet more delays, but HUGE delays. Hot Toys needs to get their scheduling sh*t together. I’m done pre-ordering. Too disappointing.
Now I know why he’s called Heartbreaker. I’ve been waiting so long for this figure… 🙁
