Hot Toys Thanos Figure Up for Order! MMS 280

Hot Toys doesn’t have the best track record of releasing major villains from many of the Marvel movies that they’ve manufactured toys for. We didn’t get a Hot Toys Malekith, or a Killian, or an Amazing Spider-Man 2 Green Goblin. We have a grand total of zero Hot Toys X-Men villains, and even Robert Redford couldn’t earn himself the chance to be immortalized in Hot Toys form. But while some big bads just don’t make the cut, there are others that are just too important to be ignored: the Hot Toys Thanos figure is now up for order!

Hot Toys Thanos MMS 280 Figure with Throne

I thought something was a mite peculiar when Hot Toys jumped ahead in their own numbering and put the MMS281 Avengers Age of Ultron Captain America Figure up for order a few days ago, but it looks like MMS280 was lounging around in his big ol’ throne and taking his dear, sweet time to show up–because MMS 280 is none other than the Guardians of the Galaxy Hot Toys Thanos figure!

Although I truly wasn’t expecting Hot Toys to tackle the Mad Titan, Thanos, until he had his first really significant role in a Marvel movie, I’m psyched to see the future ultimate antagonist of the MCU arriving later this year!

Marvel Hot Toys 2015 Thanos FigureThanos is a rather imposing individual, and it looks like he’ll have a stature to match! Although we haven’t seen him standing yet in the Marvel Movies universe, the Thanos Hot Toys sixth scale figure will stand 38 cm–over 14.9″ tall! Other than the Hot Toys Hulk, that means that Thanos will be able to tower over every other member of the sixth scale Avengers lineup.

MMS280 Thanos Hot Toys Sixth Scalr FigureI’ve heard plenty of whining about the fact that this Hot Toys Thanos figure doesn’t include the Infinity Gauntlet as an accessory, but I honestly don’t know that Marvel would ever dream of approving a Thanos figure coming with an accessory that we won’t see him complete in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for several more years (if ever).

Thanos Hot Toys Figure Close-UpBut while this Hot Toys MMS280 Thanos sixth scale figure won’t be coming with an Infinity Gauntlet, he will be coming with one of the coolest accessories we’ve ever seen packed in with a Hot Toys Marvel Movie Masterpiece Series figures: Thanos’ entire floating throne! I’m not much into LED functions on my high-end figures, but the electronics are there for those who appreciate them.

Hot Toys Guardians of the Galaxy Thanos Figure and Accessories

Thanos won’t come loaded down with accessories (besides his humongous throne, of course), but he will include an extra interchangeable pair of hands and a nameplate for his figure base stand. I’m not sure what else Hot Toys could have even canonically included with Thanos at this point, so I’m content to have him come with just these accessories and not some forced extras to bring up the MSRP.

And speaking of the price–in Hong Kong, the Hot Toys Guardians of the Galaxy Thanos figure is retailing for around the equivalent of $350 US. With that in mind, I think a fair price for Sideshow Collectibles set the United States MSRP at would be $399.99 or lower. For a 15″ figure with giant throne accessory, that’s not a bad value at all.

Guardians of the Galaxy Hot Toys Thanos Figure on ThroneThe Hot Toys Thanos sixth scale figure is now up for order, with a Q3/Q4 release date anticipated.

Seeing as how we’re at least three and a half to four years away from seeing a Thanos Hot Toys figure with Infinity Gauntlet, I’m perfectly happy to give Hot Toys my money now and decide if I want another Thanos when the Hot Toys Infinity War figures start going up for order three years from now.

What are your thoughts on what looks to be (for now) the final Hot Toys Guardians of the Galaxy figure, Marvel collectors? Will you be picking up this downright gorgeous 1/6 Thanos figure later this year, or are you holding out for a potential Avengers Infinity War Hot Toys Thanos figure down the line?

    • do you already know about the payment plans!? they’re really affordable, and totally worth it

    • Like Patrick said you can use Sideshow Collectibles Flexpay Option, it’s a layaway payment plan where you pay monthly payments on it. So instead o paying over $400 dollars at one time on Thanos you can make monthly payments of about $60 dollars per month. If don’t have a Sideshow Collectibles account go to their website and sign up for one, you’ll like it. You also get Reward Points for every purchase you make, I have built up over $300 dollars of Rewards Points, I had over $300 worth of Rewards Points before and used it on the ’89 Batmobile.

  1. You are right, you can’t ask for something to come with a figure that has not even been seen on the big screen yet. People need to stop wasting their breaths and whining about the Infinity Gauntlet not coming with Thanos, of course it’s not coming with him when we haven’t seen it yet. And to be honest it would have been stupid for Hot Toys to add the Infinity Guantlet now, why do it now when it would be better served for them to release another Thanos figure in a few years after he has ACTUALLY been seen on the big screen wearing the Infinity Gauntlet, duh lol. This figure looks amazing to me and the rocket chair looks insane, I for one will be going after it. I’ll also get the Thanos figure with the Infinity Gauntlet when it releases in a few years.

  2. Damn, this is a big one i know. Hulk was 300$ and now this one is 400 bucks! i’a afraid to see 600$ figures in the next year…

    • Well you better get ready for a $600 dollar figure because that is what Hulkbuster will cost at the least my friend, hopefully not too much more than that. But I’m still getting it just like I’m getting Thanos lol.

  3. Hottoys is number one I don’t care what the price is for hulk buster and Thanos there brought already ….lol !!!

  4. I guess they had to do the throne but I don’t plan on using it. Wish it did have Infinity Gauntlet, hope there will be aftermarket ones. People pay $400 for the right to gripe about missing glove.

    • The problem is that the glove isn’t missing–Thanos doesn’t have an Infinity Gauntlet in Guardians of the Galaxy. We haven’t even SEEN a complete Infinity Gauntlet in the movies yet at all. How could Hot Toys release an authentic Infinity Gauntlet before we even know what it will ultimately look like in the movie universe?

    • @Dabid is right, you couldn’t realistically expect to see Thanos come with the Infinity Gauntlet when it was not shown in GOTG. Hot Toys knows exactly what they’re doing, common sense tells us all that there will be another Thanos figure made with the gauntlet when ‘Infinity War’ hits theaters.
