Well, this is new. We’ve learned about Marvel Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series sixth scale figures in a variety of ways before, but I am reasonably sure that this is the first time a new Hot Toys Marvel figure has ever been revealed via… small sticker on the front of a Japanese Blu-Ray (does that make the X-Men Days of Future Past Blu-Ray a must for Hot Toys collectors? I wonder…). The Hot Toys X-Men Days of Future license was announced way back in 2013, and it looks like in 2015 Hot Toys may actually have a figure lined up for us–the Hot Toys Days of Future Past Wolverine figure!

Seeing as how X-Men Days of Future Past came and went in theaters over four months ago and we never heard a peep regarding Hot Toys X-Men DOFP figures, many (including me) assumed there were none forthcoming. Those people were (probably) wrong.

The X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu-Ray and DVD have now been released in Japan, and the home video release of X-Men DOFP brought along a real surprise: the apparent debut of a Hot Toys Future Wolverine sixth scale figure based off of Wolverine’s (too brief) appearance in the future in the X-Men Days of Future Past movie.

You can see the date of 11/2014 on the promo sticker on the Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack, which is the likely date that this figure is estimated to go on sale. That is, if this Wolverine DOFP Hot Toys figure ever goes up for sale at all.

Bear in mind that there are no sure things with the X-Men movie franchise and figures, however: Hot Toys publicly showed a Hot Toys X-Men First Class Professor X figure on multiple occasions before quietly sending it into oblivion, and just this year Diamond Select Toys scrapped their Marvel Select Mystique figure from X-Men Days of Future Past.

There are loads of licensing issues regarding products for the X-Men franchise at this time (even if Disney and Marvel will try to claim that’s non-sense), so it’s certainly possible that this Hot Toys Wolverine Days of Future Past figure will never see the light of day. That would be a real shame, though, as it really does appear that this is the best Hugh Jackman Hot Toys Wolverine figure we’ve seen to date (which also makes it the best Hugh Jackman figure, period).
