Kotobukiya X-Men Rogue ARTFX+ Statue Up for Order!

My, how time flies! It feels like just yesterday, but it was actually almost exactly a year ago to the day that I was lamenting that Kotobukiya didn’t have a single one of their X-Men ARTFX+ statues on display at last year’s Toy Fair. And now, as I get ready to leave for the New York Toy Fair 2016, the penultimate character in the line has been fully revealed: the Kotobukiya X-Men Rogue ARTFX+ Statue is now up for order!

Kotobukiya serviced “Classic” X-Men fans last year with the release of their outstanding Jim Lee Rogue Danger Room Sessions statue, which turned out to be among my favorite statues of 2015.

But for those who prefer a modern take on characters–or statues that cost a quarter of the price of the X-Men Danger Room Sessions line–Koto is adding Rogue to their Marvel Now X-Men ARTFX+ lineup later this year!

Rogue Kotobukiya ARTFX+ StatueAs much as I love Emma Frost and Illyana Rasputin (Magik), I had a modicum of disappointment that two-thirds of the female ARTFX+ X-Men lineup were characters who only became official X-Men in the new milennium.

Luckily, there’s one other woman in the lineup who’s about as “classic” as you can get: Rogue!

Kotobukiya X-Men Rogue ARTFX Statue BackUnlike last year’s Koto Rogue (which was adorned in the 90’s Jim Lee costume), this version of Rogue is sporting her 2012 Marvel NOW! X-Men look.

Even so, the green and white costume still manages to feel rather retro and classic, despite being a modern design for the character most often seen in the “Uncanny Avengers” comic book series.

Kotobukiya 2016 X-Men ARTFX+ Rogue StatueAs with the rest of the ARTFX+ X-Men series of PVC statues, Rogue has been sculpted by Junnosuke Abe and fits in seamlessly with the rest of the 1/10 scale X-Men and Avengers figures that Kotobukiya has released. Rogue stands 7.5″ tall and will include a magnetic base so that she can stand up without the need for any kind of holes or pegs marring the statue’s sculpt.

And also like the rest of the X-Men ARTFX+ statues series, Rogue is affordably priced with an MSRP of $59.99. Given the fact that this is a 7.5″ tall statue with a 100% uniquely tooled sculpt and Kotobukiya’s usual top-notch attention to care and detail, I never regret paying the comparably rock-bottom price-tag for a Kotobukiya ARTFX+ statue.

Kotobukiya X-Men ARTFX+ Statues Lineup with Rogue

I love that while Cyclops and Beast have “battle-ready” grimacing faces, Rogue is sporting a confident smile. Kotobukiya has absolutely nailed Rogue’s “Southern Belle” personality with this head sculpt!

And while Rogue isn’t exactly in an “action pose”, the fact that she’s about to pull off one of her gloves ought to be enough to put fear into the hearts of villains (and fellow mutants) everywhere. I haven’t seen a Rogue “glove-removing” pose ever used by a collectibles company before, but it makes a ton of sense and makes for a very clever design.

With the seventh and final statue in the line–Wolverine–expected to follow in the winter, by the end of 2016 the Kotobukiya Marvel Now X-Men lineup will finally be complete!

What do you think of Kotobukiya’s second Rogue statue in two years, Marvel collectors? Are you planning to pick up this ARTFX Rogue figure solo, complete the entire line of Kotobukiya X-Men statues, or pass on this statue of the X-Men’s resident Southern Belle altogether?
