Kotobukiya Juggernaut Statue Photos & Pre-Order Info!

While it’s pretty clear that the Kotobukiya Marvel Fine Arts Statues line is nowhere near the most popular or prolific line of Marvel high-end collectibles, the few products that Kotobukiya releases in this lineup each year are often gems. So while Hot Toys gets all the hype and fanfare for their new Starboost Iron Man 1/6 figure they’ve just put up for pre-order, Kotobukiua has a pretty big just-solicited item of its own to promote: the monstrously massive Kotobukiya Juggernaut Fine Arts Statue is now available for order!

Marvel Kotobukiya Juggernaut Fine Arts Statue August 2014 Release

I collect a lot of lines with a limited amount of money and an even more limited amount of free space left, and I’ve always overlooked Kotobukiya as making Marvel Collectibles that just aren’t essential for me. That started to change when Kotobukiya started showing off their terrific Marvel NOW Avengers ArtFX+ statues last year, but Koto still hadn’t convinced me to buy my first Kotobukiya Fine Arts Statue. At least, not up until now. Because now Kotobukiya has officially put up for order their first-ever Juggernaut statue, and it’s been sculpted by the great Eric Sosa!

Juggernaut Kotobukiya Statue Close-Up of HelmetEric Sosa sculpted the first Bowen Deadpool statue for Bowen Designs back in 2005, and I was so amazed by the look and quality of the sculpt that it became the first high-end statue I ever bought in my life. I was always disappointed that Eric Sosa only sculpted a handful of other pieces for Bowen Designs, as he was instantly one of my favorite sculptors. Sosa fell off my radar and hasn’t sculpted any real must-have pieces for me in close to a decade, but I fell in love with his Kotobukiya Juggernaut statue instantly when Kotobukiya debuted the piece at SDCC 2013.

Kotobukiya Marvel Statue Juggernaut Base Danger RoomAccording to the solicitation information, this specific Juggernaut statue is part of the Kotobukiya Danger Room Sessions theme, and is meant to represent the Juggernaut during a period when he was allied with the X-Men and hanging out in the Danger Room. That seems a bit fishy to me–especially with Juggernaut wearing his classic brown costume–so I’m going to retcon it in my mind that this is a traditional villainous Juggernaut statue that has smashed his way into the Danger Room (yes, I’ve really put that much thought into it).

Side of 2014 Kotobukiya X-Men Juggernaut Fine Arts StatueKotobukiya hasn’t confirmed the exact size or dimensions of their Juggernaut Danger Rooms Sessions statue yet, but they have stated that it is a 1/6th scale statue, so the unstoppable Juggernaut will likely stand around 15″-16″ tall.

Juggernaut Kotobukiya Statue Close-Up of HelmetThe Juggernaut Kotobukiya Fine Arts Statue is now available for pre-order and is scheduled to be released in August 2014. The MSRP is set at $279.99, but EE is pre-selling for a nice discount rate of $249.99–a cool 30 bucks off! That’s a pretty good price for a sixth-scale statue that will be in scale to appropriately tower over a Hot Toys collection, and I’m dying to pit this Juggernaut statue toe-to-toe with the enormous Hot Toys Hulk 1/6 figure!

Thus, the Kotobukiya Juggernaut statue will draw first blood as my first statue order of 2014. How about you, Marvel fans? Does Eric Sosa’s masterpiece impress you enough to demolish your dollars, or do you have other items in mind for your first major Marvel pre-order of 2014?
