And the hits keep right on coming today! Following up the major pre-orders opening up for the Hot Toys Iron Man Bones Mark XLI figure and the Sideshow Sentinel Maquette, we have a Kotobukiya full reveal that fans have been waiting for literally all year! Kotobukiya meant to display the unpainted prototype of the Kotobukiya Brown Costume Wolverine Fine Arts statue at New York Toy Fair 2014, but snowstorms disagreed with their wishes. Well, it’s taken another five months to get here, but finally, the Kotobukiya Wolverine Brown Costume Fine Arts Statue is now up for order!
If there’s one thing that I regret about Bowen Designs’ legendary run of Marvel statues and mini busts, it’s that they parted ways with the amazing sculptor Erick Sosa far too soon. The Bowen Designs Deadpool statue by Erick Sosa was the first statue I ever bought, and I still think it’s the best representation of the character today, almost a decade later (sorry Sideshow Premium Format Deadpool).
Though it’s far from being Wolverine’s original costume, the Wolverine Brown Costume is considered by many X-Men fans to be Wolverine’s best and most classic costume. And with Wolverine about to be dead in a few months (death in comics is forever, right?), what better way to commemorate Wolverine’s life than with a superb statue of Wolverine in one of his most beloved costumes?
As a continuation of the popular Kotobukiya X-Men Danger Room Sessions series of statues, the Danger Room Sessions Brown Costume Wolverine statue will come with another unique and very cool base–this time depicting a demolished Sentinel head. Like the rest of the Kotobukiya Danger Room Sessions statues, the Wolverine Brown Costume statue is in the 1/6 scale and stands just under 8″ tall.
Even though he’s only in the Danger Room, Wolverine is apparently very into the proceedings, because an alternate Unmasked Wolverine head is included with the statue, depicting Logan screaming in primal rage.
The Kotobukiya Fine Arts Wolverine Brown Costume statue is scheduled to be released in March 2015. Kotobukiya is very good about adhering to their release dates, so even if Wolverine should get bumped out of March (and I doubt that he will), he should still arrive in early spring 2015.
The Kotobukiya Wolverine Brown Costume Danger Room Sessions Fine Arts Statue is now available for pre-order, and is scheduled for release in Q1 2015. He’ll ship at the same $219.99 price-point that the Kotobukiya Cyclops Danger Room statue did a few years ago, although you can get Wolverine for under $200 if you pre-order early!
It’s taken quite a while to get to this point, but I’m very pleased with Kotobukiya’s new Brown Costume Wolverine statue! What about you, Marvel collectors? Will Erick Sosa’s latest masterpiece be joining your collection of X-Men merch in spring 2015?
the torso looks to large for his limbs, you can see it in that back pic.Not digging this one.
