A couple weeks back Hasbro let retailers know the contents of this summer’s Marvel Infinite Series Wave 3 assortment so that stores could start taking Marvel Infinite Series 3 figure pre-orders. But while we knew what characters made up the series, we had to give our best guesses as to what the actual figures were going to look like as far as era, costume, and so forth. But now we wait no longer! Hasbro has released hi-res, packaged images of all six figures in Marvel Infinite Series Wave 3, including Valkyrie, Ant Man, Cyclops and more!
Packed evenly at two-per-case, the Avengers Infinite Series/Marvel Infinite Series Wave 3 figures will be as follows…
Marvel Infinite Series Cyclops (Astonishing X-Men) Figure: As expected, the figure most likely to be salvaged from the cancelled Marvel Universe Astonishing X-Men team pack is here! Scott looks like he’s been putting on some pounds in this packaged photo, so I don’t know if we can still call him “Slim”. This is a figure that I think (hope) will look better loose than he does carded.
Marvel Infinite Series Valkyrie Figure: And from the cancelled Marvel Universe Asgardians three-pack, (Marvel’s) Valkyrie is also making herself known! Valkyrie isn’t a character that I have a deep personal connection to, but I know a lot of classic Defenders fans (and fans of the short-lived 2013-2014 Marvel NOW! Fearless Defenders book) will love her.
Marvel Infinite Series Omega Red Figure: Yeah, Omega Red is a repack from the final series of Marvel Universe action figures, but considering many folks have never seen this figure in a story, I don’t mind seeing an Omega Red repack in Marvel Infinite Series 3. He’s an X-Men villain, which means Marvel Infinite Series Omega Red will sell just fine.
Marvel Infinite Series Ant Man Figure: Originally part of a cancelled Marvel Universe comic pack with a Marvel Universe Moon Knight repaint, the Marvel Universe Ant Man figure finally arrives! It’s obviously impossible to tell from the packaged photo, but this is meant to be Scott Lang Ant Man and not Hank Pym Ant-Man. I’m thrilled to see the itty-bitty Ant-Man figure return as an accessory!
Marvel Infinite Series Ares Figure: One of the most expensive Hasbro Marvel Legends figures on the aftermarket, a more affordably priced Hasbro Ares figure is part of Marvel Infinite Series Wave 3. I’m a bit surprised to see this figure so many years after the character’s (seemingly) permanent death in the comics, but this Ares action figure does look pretty slick.
Marvel Infinite Series Deathlok Figure: Every Deathlok action figure I can ever remember back to his Toybiz Marvel Superheroes figure debut has been a shelf-warmer at retail, but maybe with Deathlok’s recent appearances in X-Force and the Agents of SHIELD TV Show he’ll be more popular this time? I suspect not, but it’ll be nice to finally get a 4″ Marvel Universe-scale Deathlok.
Marvel Infinite Series 3 is now available for pre-order, and is expected to be released in June 2014. Yes, I know that’s next month and it seems unlikely they’ll be ready that soon (especially since Marvel Infinite Series Wave 2 hasn’t even shown up in stores yet), but that’s Hasbro’s story and they’re sticking to it.
Now that you’ve seen the final carded sample photos of Marvel Infinite Series Wave 3, what do you think, Marvel fans? Will you be picking up the whole wave of this well-rounded assortment, cherry-picking your favorites, or forgoing Infinite Series 3 altogether?
Picking up the whole thing to be safe. Great wave. Wave 2 is disappointing. Hope Hasbro releases a giant 16″ Ant-man to go with this later on.
What? Whirlwind,Red-She-Hulk,and Deathhead disappointing?! OH..I know, you’re talking about those repacks of Rogers,Pym,and Bill Thor?
So is this the first actual 3.75″ Ant Man? Is it expected to be in high demand like Wasp?
There really needs to be another word in title to distinguish the two lines at two scales. Marvel Legends Infinite and Mavel (nothing) Infinite are too ambiguous and from personal experience confuse the crap out of retail drones.
I will be picking up most of these (namely Ant-Man and Deathlok), however I am disappointed that Ant-Man does not have antennae and I can already tell that the paint jobs for Omega Red will be questionable, as evidenced by his left arm near the elbow in his sample photo. Fortunately, most stores near me obtain these waves pretty quickly and was able to snag Wasp at my local Target. Hopefully that will happen with Wave 2 and Wave 3, for which I will surely be picking up most of these. Fingers crossed for an Ionic Wonder Man in Wave 4.
Do u think emma frost and skurg will be in the next wave
Aww man I been waiting to see this for so long!!! This is definitely the best wave in a long long time by far!!!
The heavens have opened “ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”
Those suck. I’d pick up Valkyrie, Ant-Man and Deathlok if they were in their classic togs but those versions suck the big one.
In case you were unaware, wave 4:
This set is to include the following:
1x AVN MVL PLATINUM HULK
1x AVN MVL PLATINUM WONDER MAN
1x AVN MVL DEATHS HEAD
1x AVN STAR LORD
1x AVN DRAX
1x AVN ROCKET RACCOON WITH GROOT
Yes,you bet your Avengers ID badge I’m picking these up! Best wave yet!
Pssst,Dabid;not to cause a stampede…,but Deathlok is a potential army builder. Keep it under your helmeted hat. Lol
