Last year, Hasbro kicked off the 2021 New Fantastic Four Marvel Legends team with the first ever fully-articulated Franklin Richards and Valeria Richards figures. And now, Hasbro is dipping back in to give us the other half of the team in their fun black and blue costumes! Continuing the line of Wolverine 50th Anniversary 6” figures, the Marvel Legends Fantastic Four Wolverine and Spider-Man 2-pack is now up for order! Are these quirky-costumed Spidey and Logan figures on your shopping list?
Empyre was not exactly a phenomenally successful Marvel crossover on its way to legendary status, but the 2021 series did have some fun off-shoots and tie-ins. One of these was a story by Dan Slott in Fantastic Four Vol. 6 #21-22. With the classic FF roster occupied in space, Wolverine and Spider-Man join up with young Franklin and Valeria Richards to confront the situation on Earth.
This was a brief and already rather obscure story arc, but it did give us some really cool costumes for Wolverine and Spider-Man that I instantly knew we’d eventually see in Hasbro action figure form. And less than 3 years later, Peter and Logan are ready to join Powerhouse and Brainstorm in 6” toy form!
That Franklin & Valeria 2-pack didn’t exactly set the world on fire and is available discounted even now, but I’m expecting a better fate for this Wolverine 50th Anniversary pack. The bright blue and black costumes on Wolverine and Spider-Man are funky fun, and I can see many collectors going for this set that passed on the other half of the New Fantastic Four.
Spider-Man in particular is going to be desired by collectors, as the FF version is a new colorway utilizing the superb Amazing Fantasy Spider-Man mold as a base. Unlike Fantastic Four Wolverine, Spider-Man is also fully pin-less.
Because Hasbro is releasing both halves of the New Fantastic Four in relatively short order, I’d expect this new pack to actually help the sales of the Franklin/Valeria pack and assist that set in fully selling out. And given the characters in this new set, I can see it selling out at full price without much trouble. A smart move and good plan on Hasbro’s part, in my opinion.
The Marvel Legends Fantastic 4 Spider-Man and Wolverine set is now up for pre-order, and scheduled to ship out this summer. Obviously these aren’t the most iconic iterations of either character, but will you pick this funky F4 pack up anyway, Marvel collectors?
