One of the hands-down biggest surprises for me at last month’s New York Toy Fair 2016 was how much I liked the first two Marvel Legends Prop Replica role-play toys: the life-size Captain America’s Shield and Iron Man’s Helmet. Hasbro said at Toy Fair they’d use the pre-order sales to gauge of the line would be continuing. They must be happy with the sales, because they’ve not posted a Fan’s Choice Vote online for the next addition to the Marvel Legends Role-Play Items line!

I said it last month when I did my 2016 Toy Fair coverage of the Marvel Legends Life-Size Prop Replicas, and I’ll say it again: I’m not a prop replica kind of guy. I’m just not willing to lay down hundreds (or thousands) of dollars for a reproduction of something from a movie that’s not a figure or statue.

But–! For the $99.99 that Hasbro has priced their premium prop replica Marvel Legends role-play items at, well… for that, I am compelled. And apparently, so are plenty of other collectors, because pre-orders for the first two items are selling well enough that Hasbro is now polling fans to determine the third item!

Thor's Mjolnir Hammer Movie Prop ReplicaStarting now, collectors can head on over to Survey Monkey to vote in the Hasbro-sponsored, official poll and vote for the four life-size prop replicas that they’d like to see released in the future as part of the Marvel Legends premium role-play items line. There are sixteen different choices to choose from in the poll, and you have to rank the four that you select from your top choice (#1) to your last choice (#4).

I’m not arrogant enough to believe that I can predict the choices of the masses, but if I had to give my best guesses, I would say that Thor’s Mjolnir hammer and Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet will rank #1 and #2 in this poll. However, when names like “Deadpool” and “Spider-Man” are also attached to choices, who can really say what’s going to win out in this very intriguing poll…?

As far as what’s not going to win the vote–I have a nagging suspicion that Wasp’s helmet is going to finish dead last. The Wasp typically doesn’t wear a helmet in the comic books (has she ever?), and we’ve yet to really see her in the MCU at all. Maybe in another year or two that option will be more viable, but I just don’t see fans rallying behind a Wasp helmet at this time.

Gamora's Sword from Guardians of the Galaxy MovieOh, and a special treat for those readers who are curious, my choices in the poll, from #1 to #4, were as follows: 1) Thanos Infinity Gauntlet; 2) Thor Mjolnir Hammer; 3) Gamora Sword; 4) Cyclops Visor. I don’t have a lot of hope for Gamora’s sword to place highly in this Marvel Legends vote, but I think it would be an awesome item that my wife would love carrying around to conventions and such.

    I want the original Ant-Man helmet, not the Civil War one.
    And I really want the Abnett/Lanning Star-Lord full mask & helmet combo, not the movie one.

    Downside with Mjolnir is I think it’s better served by the head being softer like a stunt prop. Gauntlet though, that could look magical.

  6. I’m not a big X-Men fan but Magneto’s Helmet would be a pretty tempting buy for me.

  7. I’d drop $99 on a Magneto helmet no question. I’d probably buy one for my brother while I’m at it. There are just so many times in a day where I feel I would put it on and manipulate the magnetic fields around me. After that, I went with Wolverine (though the color/version does matter a lot), then the Gauntlet, then a movie Starlord helmet, if it is the full head version.

    Honestly, a lot of these make little sense on their own- where am I gonna find a full suit that matches a Spider-Man mask or a Deadpool mask? I can build a suit around Cyclops’ visor, but with a pre-made mask you’d have to make a suit to match it, at which point it wouldn’t be worth it. There are some weird choices here. (Also, someone could totally do a suit or a Iron Man 3 Tony around just the gauntlet. If they make that, I might cosplay Tony from IM3, or Business Suit Tony.) I’d vote for Star-Lord’s Mask if they were gonna make an Abnett and Lanning comic version, but we all know they’re not. They’re not that cool.

    I could REALLY use some premium web-shooters for my Scarlet Spider cosplay, though- if they base them off the comic versions that are the full wrist gauntlet things, which they really should. Also, I’ve been meaning to put together a Cyclops cosplay and the visor would be helpful.

    • ALSO also the lack of Hawkeye’s Bow is making me ANGRY. How dare you, Hasbro.

      • I think the bow would be too big to produce. Then again, there is Gamora’s sword, so…

        • MCU Hawkeye’s bow is a real bow you can already purchase, with some modifications. I target shoot with a guy that built a decent replica. It will *not* cost you $99, however.

          • Brian, I believe that he shot a Hoyt Buffalo takedown in Avengers and a modified Hoyt Gamemaster II in Avengers 2. Either one is a real hunting weapon and starts at around $600-800 for base models. They are not replicas and even stringing them is a dangerous activity if not trained properly.

          • Thanks Cragger! I’m a Hawkeye nut but not even remotely capable with a bow. Its nice to know that someone who knows their way around a boy knows what he used. Great Info!

    I would be hesitant to vote for a sword or mask just because they don’t ever look right in plastic no matter the paint app. Web shooters would be cool, but I’m not sure it be a very good prop replica. Any of the selections would cool to see though.

  13. Why in Helheim isn’t anything LOKI listed? They should know dang well Loki’s helm or the chitauri scepter would sell out in an instant. (Although I personally would pay a ridiculous amount for either.. well, maybe not as much as eFX sells them for, but I’d drop $100-$200 for the helm and $300-$500 for the extended scepter in a heartbeat)
