Last week I was talking about Bandai Japan closing out their Spider-Man Homecoming movie entries with their SH Figuarts Homemade Suit Spidey and Iron Man figures, but not to be outdone, Mezco Toyz has a much-anticipated straggler of their own! Not content to just re-outfit the existing ONE:12 Collective Spider-Man, they’ve made some changes and slimmed Peter down–the ONE:12 Collective Spider-Man Homecoming figure is now up for order!
I bought the SDCC Exclusive Miles Morales Spider-Man variant and I have the neat-o Black Costume Spider-Man exclusive on order, but the plain version of Spidey just didn’t impress me the way that many ONE:12 Collective figures have.
But this year’s majorly successful Spider-Man Homecoming movie has given Mezco a chance to go back to the mostly classic-styled well once again, and they’re doing just that with the ONE:12 Collective Homecoming Spider-Man figure that went up for order this morning!
Now, obviously you can tell from the extra blue and black lining on the costume that this is based off of the Homecoming version of Spidey and not necessarily the classic comic book version. That said, the head on this version and the color scheme selected look far more like what most people picture in their minds than the previous red-and-blue costume that Mezco Toyz released.
While I don’t think their original effort was necessarily bad, I do think that Mezco’s first classic Spider-Man figure was one of their weakest efforts in the Marvel line so far. Thankfully, that figure hasn’t shipped out yet, so collectors who want to cancel that Spidey and get the new Homecoming version instead still have that option.
At this time, we haven’t even heard the slightest hint or rumor that Mezco Toyz might be tackling the Homemade Suit costume, but given the design of that particular costume, I feel like it would be a real shame if Mezco didn’t do it. It really seems like the sort of design that Mezco could definitely make shine as a 6″ mixed media figure.
The Marvel ONE:12 Collective Spider-Man Homecoming figure is now up for order, and is scheduled to be released in June-September 2018. That means the wait time on this figure could be up to a year (and maybe even slightly more)–ouch! This may be the best-looking 6″ Homecoming figure in the land, but that’s definitely a lengthy wait to have for him. He’ll retail for the usual ONE 12 Collective Marvel MSRP of $80, and EE and Woozy Moo are both offering free shipping.
Now that you’ve seen Mezco’s latest take on Spidey, what do you think, Marvel collectors? Is the Homecoming movie version the ONE:12 Collective Spider-Man to have, or do you prefer one of the other three versions that Mezco Toyz has put up for order previously?
