One of the things that instantly caught my attention at the New York Toy Fair 2014 was a brand-new KidRobot Marvel Labbits Series 2 assortment! KidRobot can go years between releasing series, so I wasn’t anticipating seeing more Marvel Labbits until 2015. Joke’s on me, though–not only did Kid Robot show an entire new series of Marvel Labbits figures, but all of the 2014 Marvel Labbits figures are due to be released in stores this coming week!

Perhaps the very best Marvel action figure of 2013 didn’t come from one of the more prolific companies like Hasbro or the most glamorous like Hot Toys. No, the top pick for Marvel figure of the year for last year was by Diamond Select Toys–the Marvel Select Venom figure. Released in February 2013, the Marvel Select Venom action figure followed in the footsteps of his symbiote predecessors by quickly selling out and exploding in value. But if you missed out last year, you’re in luck–Diamond Select Toys has opened pre-orders for a Marvel Select Venom reissue!

Another day, another Funko variant. Last week I talked about the unannounced release of the Barnes and Noble exclusive Funko Black & White Captain America POP! Vinyls figure. Cap is an old-timey kind of guy and Funko loves their black and white variants, so that release was pretty commonplace. This latest release is going to be one that’s a lot more unexpected, however–the exclusive Funko Glow-in-the-Dark Captain America POP Vinyls figure! Well that was fast, now wasn’t it? Over the weekend the first painted prototype images of the Figma Avengers Thor 6″ Figure surfaced from a Japanese magazine. Good Smile Company (the distributor of Figma figures) has now released hi-res images of the 6″ Figma Thor action figure, and pre-orders for the Figma Thor are now available!

Of the hundreds of new products that I saw at the 2014 Toy Fair International, the most enigmatic one turned out to be one of the smallest. Within a couple seconds of walking into the Funko booth, I saw a couple orange Deadpool Mystery Minis variants on display. I asked two of the workers at the booth about this mysterious Funko orange Deadpool, but neither knew the details on it. When Hasbro announced the lineup for the Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy figures assortment earlier this month, many collectors (including me) were bummed that the movie Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends were limited to the five members of the team with zero villains or secondary characters. Well, Hasbro revealed a whole range of Guardians of the Galaxy 2.5″ figure two-packs at Toy Fair 2014 last week, and if you want villains and ancillary characters, you’re in luck! Marvel Super Hero Mashers definitely are not my favorite action figure line of 2014. In general, they’re a bit too “kiddie” for me, and I wasn’t totally in love with the character selection for the first series. That said, Hasbro may have won me over–just a little bit–with their Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Super Hero Mashers Series 3 reveals. As if Hasbro went into my brain and pulled out four characters that would be ideal lures for me, at last week’s New York Toy Fair 2014 Hasbro debuted the Marvel Mashers Deadpool, Iceman, Red Hulk and Ghost Rider figures!

Many companies brought half-finished packaging for their upcoming products to New York Toy Fair 2014, and some brought no packaging at all. But one company that brought the fully-designed, real deal to the show was Funko (along with about a million new figures)! Particularly nice is their Guardians of the Galaxy packaging, which looks quite different from the usual Funko Marvel packaging. Seeing as how the first wave of Hasbro Marvel Infinite Series 3 3/4″ action figures are almost ready to ship out and up till now we’d heard zippo from Hasbro about Wave 2, it didn’t take a zen master of collecting to know that the 2014 Marvel Universe Infinite Series 2 figures would be debuting at New York Toy Fair 2014 this weekend.

We’ve known for months now that Diamond Select Toys has a pair of Marvel Select Captain America The Winter Soldier figures scheduled to come out this spring. We’ve previously seen an image of the Marvel Select Stealth Captain America released online, and this week’s American International Toy Fair 2014 was the first chance to see Cap in person. It was actually not until my third pass through the New York Toy Fair 2014 ThreeA Toys booth that I realized there was something new on display at the booth. While my eyes had been drawn to the four ThreeA Iron Man figures on display repeatedly, somehow I kept missing the figure standing immediately next to them. But sure enough, I eventually did open my eyes all the way and see the debuting prototype of the next addition to the line: the Marvel ThreeA Dr. Doom sixth scale figure!
