It’s sad, but it’s true–the final wave of the Hasbro Marvel Universe 3 3/4″ action figures line is now upon us. Hasbro has been releasing new series fast and furious this fall, and we’ve quickly gone from none of the Marvel Universe 2013 figure waves being released to all of them being released. Say “goodbye” to Marvel Universe and hello to Omega Red, Alpha Flight (Aurora), Black Knight and AoA Nightcrawler–Marvel Universe Wave 24 (2013 Series 5) has now been released and is available for order!

LEGO Marvel fans were dumbfounded when the trio of LEGO Iron Man 3 sets were revealed. The major shocker wasn’t even that two of the three Iron Man LEGO sets didn’t occur in the movie at all (Iron Man vs. The Mandarin in a giant tank?! What exactly did Marvel tell LEGO was going to happen in this movie!?). No, what stunned LEGO Marvel collectors was that there wasn’t a LEGO Iron Patriot minifigure included in any of the sets! The bad news is that I have now lost a bet and owe a friend five bucks. The good news is that the bet that I lost was my guess that the Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man Movie Masterpiece Series figure would be delayed into 2014! After countless delays and the figure not even being shown at San Diego Comic Con 2013, I thought it was very possible the Amazing Spider-Man Hot Toys figure would fail to make it out before the end of 2013. But I was wrong–it’s taken quite a while, but the Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man MMS 179 figure has now been released overseas!

When Hasbro got back into the 12″ action figure business this year, their efforts didn’t necessarily light the collecting world aflame with impressed fans. Even so, the Hasbro Marvel Universe Titan Hero Series of large-scale action figures fills a niche that’s otherwise gone unfilled recently–that of cheap big figures for kids to collect.

Regular readers know that I’m not quite a fan of the typical Kotobukiya Bishoujo Marvel statues. That said, Kotobukiya definitely got my attention last week when they revealed the concept sketch for a Jubilee Bishoujo statue before New York Comic Con 2013 even began! I suspected we wouldn’t see any further sneak peeks of Jubilee (that sounded dirty) at the show, but I made Kotobukiya an early stop at NYCC 2013 nonetheless. After a pretty wild time at New York Comic Con 2013, I’m back to continue on with my Marvel coverage of the event! One booth I was particularly interested in checking out was the Kotobukiya booth. Since Kotobukiya fully-revealed the Avengers Now Black Widow ARFTX+ statue about a week ago, I figured we’d be seeing the painted Marvel Now Captain America statue on display joining her at NYCC 2013. I wasn’t expecting a whole lot of news to come out from the NYCC 2013 Hasbro Press Event (after all, if there’s a lot of new product to show, why not have a panel at New York Comic Con itself or at least an exhibitor’s booth set up?). To my surprise, Hasbro debuted a significant number of never-seen-before Hasbro Marvel figures, including a series that just may be my favorite 6″ line of next year.

“No. Way. No freaking way.” Those were my words this morning when I woke up and saw the latest news from Kotobukiya. It figures–it just figures–that immediately after I make a post in which my usual distaste for the Kotobukiya Bishoujo statue line shines through, Kotobukiya goes and shows a Marvel Bishoujo statue concept design illustration that blows me out of this world. I never thought they would pick her, but Kotobukiya has selected the one instant-buy female character in the whole Marvel Universe: it’s the Kotobukiya Jubilee Bishoujo statue!
