Marvel Vinylmation Series 1 Thor Figure Trading Card Photo

We knew going into this weekend’s D23 Expo 2013 that that first series of Disney Vinylmation Marvel figures wasn’t going to be until fall, so there were zero expectations for an early release at the convention or anything like that. But sometimes it’s nice to have the bar set low, because then you can be pleasantly surprised!

No, Disney didn’t sell the series at the show, but they did give out free promotional trading cards showing off photos of the Vinylmation Marvel Series 1 figures for the very first time!

Hot Toys Midas Iron Man Mark 21 Figure on Display

Last week Hot Toys shocked the Marvel Hot Toys collecting world by announcing that the first Iron Man 3 Movie Masterpiece Series figure to be released would be a previously unannounced Hot Toys Midas Mark 21 Iron Man figure–and that he was going to be released first at the Hot Toys exhibition in Taiwan this week!

It turns out Hot Toys was telling the truth (what, you thought they weren’t?), as the Mark XXI Iron Man Midas Hot Toys figure has now been released overseas!

Iron Man 3 Mandarin Hot Toys 2014 Marvel Figure with Sunglasses and Rings

Well, what do you know, the Mandarin was right–I really didn’t see it coming!

Even though I’ve been one of the (minority of) ardent fans and supporters of the Iron Man 3 Mandarin since the movie came out, and despite the fact that I had seen the glamor photos earlier this week and knew the Hot Toys Mandarin would be up for pre-order soon, I was still taking completely unawares: The Iron Man 3 Hot Toys Mandarin is now up for order!

Marvel Legends Rocket Raccoon Build-A-Figure Review Wave 5 2013

Marvel Legends Rocket Raccoon Build-A-Figure

To my deep appreciation, Hasbro has released the summer 2013 Marvel Legends Wave 5 set on time, and now the reviews can begin. Ordinarily I’d start with the individuals and work my way up to the Build-A-Figure, but lets skip to the chase this time and talk about what I really care about in this set: the anthropomorphic raccoon! It’s the Marvel Legends Rocket Raccoon Build-A-Figure–and it… is… awesome!

Iron Man 3 Hot Toys Silver Centurion Iron Man Pre-Order!

Close-Up of Iron Man 3 Silver Centurion Hot Toys Iron Man Armor 2014

I woke up last week to what every man dreams of–unexpected new glamor shots of a new Hot Toys Iron Man figure. Though it had made its debut at SDCC 2013 less than a week before, the Hot Toys Iron Man Silver Centurion Mark 33 Enhanced Energy Suit was already ready for its official photography session! As soon as I saw that Hot Toys had posted photos, I knew it was only a matter of time until the red and silver centurion made his presence known on Sideshow Collectibles website. Well, it took a lot longer than I expected–a whole week longer. But lo and behold–he has arrived! The Iron Man 3 Hot Toys Silver Centurion Iron Man figure is now available for pre-order!

Iron Man 3 Hot Toys Tony Stark The Mechanic Up for Order!

Posted on by August 5, 2013
Hot Toys Iron Man 3 Tony Stark Mandarin Mansion Assault with Iron Man Arm

The central theme of Iron Man 3 is that it is the strength, bravery and intelligence of an individual that makes them a hero–not their weapons or technology. We see this with both Tony Stark (who spends the vast majority of the movie without armor) and James Rhodes (who is far more effective outside the Iron Patriot armor than he is in it in the film). So it’s only fitting that amongst an armada of Iron Man suits, Hot Toys capture both of Robert Downey Jr.’s iconic appearances from Iron Man 3. The first Workshop Tony Stark has been up for order for months, and the new (and far cooler) Hot Toys Tony Stark the Mechanic figure is now up for pre-order!

SDCC 2013 Exclusive Funko Metallic Red Hulk POP! Vinyl Review

Posted on by July 28, 2013
Funko Metallic Red Hulk POP! Vinyl Bobblehead Figure

If there’s a toy company out there that I desperately want to love more than Funko, I don’t know what it is. I’ve had my share of quality control issues with the Funko POP! Vinyls figure line over the years, which has left me mostly admiring their goods from afar. But with the massive amount of cool 2013 San Diego Comic Con exclusives Funko released, I could resist no more, and picked up a trio of their con exclusive Marvel POP! Vinyls. By luck (or bad luck) of the draw, I opened the Metallic Red Hulk POP! Vinyl first…
