Marvel Select Taskmaster Movie Figure with Sword and Shield

While Diamond Select Toys brought a plethora of showings to New York Toy Fair 2020 in February (as always), one line that was definitely a bit underrepresented at NYTF was the long-running Marvel Select figure series… which had exactly zero new figures displayed at the event. It’s been pretty quiet Select-wise ever since, but finally there’s some news to get excited about: the Marvel Select Taskmaster movie figure currently up for order has now been revealed! And Black Widow movie delay or no, he’s still scheduled to arrive this summer!

Who’s adding this classic-styled Kingpin to *their* collection?

Hot Toys Spider-Gwen Endgame Captain Marvel Spider-Ham Figures

Collectibles companies have been playing it safe over the last couple months and heavily limiting new pre-orders during this challenging economic time for many, but we’ve finally started seeing more new pre-orders over the last couple weeks. And to close out April, Hot Toys launched their first two new Marvel 1/6 figures in a while: the Hot Toys Spider-Gwen (plus Spider-Ham) & Endgame Captain Marvel figures are now up for order! Both these figures are from movies over a year old—are you still interested in them?

SH Figuarts Endgame Captain America Cap vs Cap Figure Up for Order in the US!

Bandai Avengers Endgame 2012 Captain America Unmasked Chris Evans Portrait

When it comes to action figures, army-builders are pretty much the gift that keeps on giving to toy companies. After all, rather than producing one unique character that most collectors will purchase a singular time, an army-builder will often be purchased multiple times with no more development expenses than a unique character. That’s why companies have seized on a special opportunity brought about by Avengers Endgame. And now, Bandai is getting in on that action—the Bandai SH Figuarts Avengers Endgame “Cap vs Cap” Captain America is now up for order in the US!

Bizarre fact: it is now May 2020, and Sideshow Collectibles just opened their very first 1/4 Marvel Premium Format Figure pre-order this week. If that’s not a sign of the times, I don’t know what is! But regardless, the new Sideshow Deadpool Premium Format statue is now up for order! Depending on how you count, this is somewhere between Sideshow’s 3rd and 6th statue of the Merc with a Mouth—is it their best one yet… and worthy of its $600+ price-tag?

Marvel Legends Groot Evolution Figures Review Photos

It’s been slow going news-wise for Marvel Legends fans lately (although new waves actually are beginning to hit some stores in dribbles), but Hasbro did have one unexpected new solicitation to announce this week to coincide with Earth Day: an exclusive reissue of an exclusive three-pack that contained three reissued figures to begin with! That’s right, following its release as a Toys R Us exclusive back at the very start of 2017, the Marvel Legends Groot Evolution 3-Pack is now up for order and going back into production! If you missed it, should you get one…?

SH Figuarts Loki Avengers Figure

The last month and a half have been some of the slowest for Marvel toy news and releases that I can remember in the last decade—but while the pandemic is still going strong, companies have finally started rolling out some new items for pre-order over the course of the last week! I’ll be catching up on discussing those this weekend, and I wanted to start with a figure I wasn’t sure would ever get released at all! While it’s a limited and expensive exclusive overseas, the SH Figuarts Loki figure is now up for order in the US for a decent price as well!

REVIEW: Marvel Legends Shang-Chi Master of Kung Fu Figure (Hasbro 2020)

Posted on by June 14, 2020
Hasbro Shang-Chi Marvel Legends 2020 Figure Review

I’ve been rationing out reviews for the last few 2020 Marvel Legends figures I’ve received thus far–and I’m not willing to go out for a pandemic toy run–so hopefully the next waves of Hasbro Marvel Legends ship via online retailers soon. But in the meantime, I’ve got at least one headliner (at least to hardcore comic book fans!) figure left to review! The first-ever 6″ Shang-Chi Legends figure is now available for order in the Spider-Man Demogoblin Series–has Hasbro done a masterful job with the Master of Kung Fu?

Marvel Legends Mysterio Exclusive Spider-Man Retro Series Figure

It’s been quiet times as of late, but Hasbro has finally broken the silence with a reveal today that ought to make some noise amongst collectors of Marvel 6″ figures: an Exclusive Marvel Legends Mysterio figure in Retro Packaging is now up for order! Many fans missed the comic book-based Mysterio that came out two years back–and that figure now sells for hefty prices on the aftermarket–so I imagine this updated version of Spider-Man Legends Mysterio is definitely going to excite plenty of fans missing this classic villain from their collections!

REVIEW: Marvel Legends Velocity Suit Spider-Man Figure (PS4 GamerVerse)

Posted on by April 5, 2020
Close-Up of Spider-Man Legends Velocity Suit Action Figure Demogoblin Series

The Marvel toy news drought continues while the collecting world is mostly on hold because of COVID-19, so let’s take a look at another 2020 Marvel Legends figure review that I’ve had in the queue! Last time I looked at the Spider Armor Mark III figure, which I ended up liking far more than I was expecting to. This time, let’s see if the other Spidey variant in the wave fares as well! The Marvel Legends Velocity Suit Spider-Man figure is required to build the Demogoblin BAF, and is the only pure GamerVerse figure in the wave: is it also any good?

Iron Studios X-Men Statues Archangel Iceman Storm Psylocke

Marvel toy news is trickling in at a glacial pace during this global pandemic—but there’s at least one company that’s been going full speed ahead over the course of the past week, putting a whopping FOUR new X-Men statues up for order! Adding another quartet to their 1:10 scale BDS (Battle Diorama Series) of X-Men vs. Sentinel-themed resin statues, the Iron Studios Iceman, Storm, Psylocke and Archangel statues are all now up for order! How’d they come out? Let’s have a look…

REVIEW: Marvel Legends Spider-Man Spider Armor Mark III Figure (Demogoblin Wave)

Posted on by March 28, 2020
Hasbro Spider Armor Mark 3 Figure Review 2020 Marvel Legends

Up until now, I’ve been cherry-picking and talking about the most hyped and most popular figures from the 2020 Spider-Man Marvel Legends Demogoblin Series. But since it’s a requisite to buy all six figures to build the Demogoblin Build-A-Figure, I’m going to have to talk about every figure in the wave—including one of the weirder Spider-Man costumes Hasbro has done to-date! Marvel Legends Spider Armor Mark III is still available online discounted with Prime shipping despite the pandemic—is it worth ordering out for while you’re stuck at home?

Marvel Legends Squirrel Girl Figure + Scooter Riders Set REVIEW & Photos

Hasbro Squirrel Girl Legends Figure with Squirrel Figurines Tippy Toe

At San Diego Comic Con 2019, Hasbro announced a character for release in the Marvel Legends lineup that many fans legit believed would never be done. But after years of requests and dozens of issues of her solo comic book series, a 6” Squirrel Girl action figure finally became a reality! And after a half year of waiting, the Marvel Legends Squirrel Girl figure is finally shipping out from retailers… boxed with a scooter that hasn’t exactly been met with a warm response. How is this box set as a whole, and is it worth its price tag? Here’s my review…

Close-Up of Marvel Legends Demogoblin Action Figure BAF

Marvel Legends news and new releases have slowed to a crawl over the last month–but that’s okay, because it’s giving me a chance to catch up on my 2020 Marvel Legends reviews without falling further behind! And the first figure I want to review while getting back on the wagon is the second BAF of the year (with the first being the superb Fantastic Four Series Super Skrull)! You’ll have to purchase the entire first Spider-Man Marvel Legends 2020 wave to build the Demogoblin Build-A-Figure: is he worth it?

Toy Fair 2020 Kotobukiya ARTFX Premier Captain Marvel Scarlet Witch Black Cat

Kotobukiya didn’t bring quite as elaborate of a spread of new Marvel statues to display at New York Toy Fair 2020 as they have in past years, but they did bring along a few previously announced figures to show off in the United States for the very first time! Along with the ARTFX Premier Scarlet Witch statue that’s now up for order, they also displayed the ARTFX Premier Captain Marvel and the concept art for the new version of a Black Cat Bishoujo PVC statue!
