Considering the fact that the 2013 Scarlet Spider Marvel Legends figure has been in the header for this site ever since I opened it over half a decade ago, I don’t think anyone will be stunned to learn that I’m a big Kaine Parker fan. While that ML Rocket Raccoon Series figure is a bit dated by today’s standards, I loved (and still do love) it. But time has marched forward, action figures have advanced, and it was time for a new version of Kaine to be released. The Marvel Legends SP//DR Series Scarlet Spider figure is already selling out and escalating in price: is it worth upgrading before it’s too late?

2018 has been a bit of a quiet year for Kotobukiya, with zero new Marvel Bishoujo statues released and little buzz surrounding their ARTFX+ Infinity War and Avengers Series 2 1:10 PVC figures. But one item that exceeded expectations and got a lot of love was the 1:6 scale Webslinger Spider-Man ARTFX Statue. So much love, in fact, that it’s getting a pretty magnificent (and huge!) companion piece next year: the 16.5” Kotobukiya Venom ARTFX Statue is now up for order!

Earlier this year, Hasbro gave 6” figure collectors their very first dose of a modern X-23 Marvel Legends figure in the Deadpool Sasquatch Series with X-Force X-23. I was taken off-guard by how much I liked that figure, primarily because of its awesome head sculpt. While I initially thought that there might not be enough marketable related characters to produce a second wave of Deadpool Legends, Hasbro drew from a much deeper well and used the Sauron Series to give us an assortment that’s more of a pseudo second X-Men wave for the year than anything else. And one of its highlights is an X-Men villain we haven’t seen in 6” form in 13 years! I am not ashamed to admit that I’ve got a bit of a thing for She-Hulk. Jennifer Walters is pretty much the perfect woman: brilliant, independent, witty, capable and powerful. Heck, “Shulkie” is one of my nicknames for my wife (who, coincidentally, is also named Jennifer). So whenever a company announces a new She-Hulk collectible? I take notice. There was a time about four years ago when I still had delusions that it was possible to be a completist with Guardians of the Galaxy merch. With the sheer mass of GOTG collectibles that have been released over the past several years, I’ve realized that goal is pretty unrealistic. But with Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord being my favorite character in the whole MCU, I’m all-in when it comes to Star-Lord toys. So when the Marvel Gallery Star-Lord Unmasked PVC statue started shipping last month, it was on its way to my home shortly thereafter. At 11″ tall and just 40 bucks, it’s a steal value-wish… but is this Chris Pratt figure actually any good…?
