Bandai kicked off their Marvel v Capcom (GamerVerse) Figuarts lineup with their immensely successful Cyclops and Spider-Man figures last year, and now in 2026 they’re ready to move on to the most popular X-Men member of all. The SH Figuarts Wolverine GamerVerse figure is now up for order! Is he a big enough leap beyond the Hasbro Marvel Legends version to warrant another hundred bucks?
Well, this is an instance where I think the expensive premium import figure is sort of a mixed bag in comparison to the “cheap” Hasbro two-pack release (shown above and below).
The Marvel Legends GamerVerse Wolverine is a really tremendous figure; one of best Logans that Hasbro has ever put out. That ML Wolverine has a superb aesthetic and excellent articulation, while being priced at a relatively fair ~$60 in a two-pack with Silver Samurai.
At $100 MSRP, Bandai’s Wolverine is a lot more expensive and doesn’t come with a whole other figure.
What Bandai does give us is an amazing alternate head, with open mouth and sculpted tongue and teeth. This looks extremely cool to me, and legit my favorite thing about Bandai’s take. I also think their default “gritted teeth” portrait looks a tad more video game-y and authentic than Hasbro’s. The arm articulation is also unquestionably superior on the Figuarts Wolverine, allowing him to fully cross his arms over his chest.
However, while Bandai adds even more articulation points to Logan than Hasbro incorporated, I don’t think they look quite as clean or nice. The way they cut the pelvic joints make Wolverine’s trunks look a little bit thong-y, and the mid-neck cut jars me a bit too. I think I’m a little spoiled by how well Hasbro disguises their articulation.
For me personally, I really like this Marvel vs Capcom Wolverine Figuarts. I like the heads a lot, and I love that he can cross his arms far better than Hasbro’s version of the toy can. But I am not blown away by him in the way that I was Cyclops and Spider-Man. Will I drop 100 bucks on him to keep my set complete? I’m really not sure yet. I like him, but in the present environment and this stage of my collecting life, I don’t know if I need him.
The Wolverine SH Figuarts Marvel GamerVerse figure is now up for pre-order and will be released in summer 2026. GamerVerse Cyclops was exceedingly popular and pre-sold out from a lot of retailers; my instinct says to expect Wolverine to follow that same pattern.
What are your opinions on Bandai’s new premium Wolverine, Marvel collectors? Do you think it compares favorably with the Hasbro Marvel Legends version? Are you considering picking up this Wolverine yourself?
