It used to be that you could count on any new Marvel line of toys or collectibles beginning with one of the “go to” headliner characters of Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America or Iron Man. Things have clearly changed a little bit, as the hottest character at Marvel is a little bit less heroic (and a whole lot more insane!) and Sideshow is planning to capitalize! The Sideshow exclusive Deadpool sixth scale figure is now up for order!

If Sideshow wanted to make a statement that their line of sixth scale Marvel figures was firmly aimed at diehard collectors, they could not have picked a better character to begin with than Deadpool! Unlike characters that have been done to death in every conceivable size, costume and scale (such as Iron Man and Spider-Man), relatively few Deadpool figures are released each year–and every one of them is voraciously devoured by ardent Deadpool fans!

And Sideshow isn’t just giving us a Deadpool 1/6th scale figure–they’ve giving us possibly the best Deadpool figure ever made by any company. Ever. Sideshow Collectibles clearly learned a lot from their work on the sixth scale Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow figures from the Sideshow G.I. Joe sixth scale line, because the 1:6 Deadpool figure that they have developed is outright awesome.

Collectors who have become accustomed to the handful of accessories that comes with most Hot Toys Marvel figures are in for a real shock, as Sideshow Collectibles is including an absolutely staggering number of accessories with the Sideshow Deadpool 1/6 figure!

The 12″ Deadpool figure will come packing two swords (and sheathes), a knife, two Deadpool-decorated grenades, two pistols (with Deadpool logos on the handles), a rocket launcher, two heads, and twelve interchangeable hands!

Deadpool’s sheathed swords will fit comfortably onto the clips on his back, where they look totally natural. I love the black-and-red diamond deco on the hilts of Deadpool’s swords!

The Deadpool logo deco on Deadpool’s guns and grenades is also very true to the character’s zany style, while not over-the-top enough to make the figure feel inaccurate. The gritty leather holster helps to tone down the silliness factor, balancing these aspects of Deadpool’s personality nicely.

Deadpool will include a classy Deadpool logo display base figure stand, which is a must for 12″ figures. What’s unique about the Deadpool figure stand, however, is that it will apparently include attachments for textual word balloons that you can display next to Deadpool! Now that is something I have never seen before on a sixth scale figure!

As mentioned, Deadpool comes with two interchangeable heads. One of the heads is a deadly serious Deadpool head, and the other is a more stylized, comical Deadpool head. Given the huge contrast between the sides of Deadpool’s personality, alternate Deadpool heads were a must, and I’m glad that Sideshow Collectibles came through for us in that regard.

And hey, what’s a Deadpool figure with a gigantic freaking gun, right?!

The only thing that I’m not totally sold on about this Sideshow sixth scale Deadpool figure is the aesthetic of the collar on Deadpool’s neck. It doesn’t look quite right to me, so I may have to do some mods to the collar once I receive the figure (by which I mean “ask my wife to do some mods to the collar once I receive the figure”).

And just to make sure that collectors who are on the fence about this Deadpool figure order work themselves into a frenzy and order Deadpool nice and quick, Sideshow has devised a whopper of an exclusive item! The limited, Sideshow Exclusive Deadpool Sixth Scale figure will come with a flying zombie head Headpool accessory as a special extra!
