This year’s Captain Marvel Legends is one of the most-weighted series towards movie characters that we’ve seen Hasbro release, with 5 of the 7 characters in the wave hailing from the movie. But while only two single-packed characters are comics-based, both are ones fans have been asking for for a while. And today, I’ll review a figure that collectors seems enthusiastic about, but which seems to be a slow seller online: Marvel Legends Grey Gargoyle!

Things have been a little bit quieter and a little bit bleaker for Minimates collectors since the untimely demise of Toys R Us last year, but Walgreens has picked up a lot of the slack and brought fans many Marvel Minimates packs that otherwise might never have been produced. And the latest Walgreens Exclusive series is one a lot of collectors would have cried foul about not getting: the Captain Marvel Minimates movie series (including Ronan, Coulson, Nick Fury and more!) has now been released and is already fetching big bucks on ebay!

But sometimes the BAF is a little… less… demanded. Such is the case with today’s subject of review: the Captain Marvel Marvel Legends Kree Sentry Build-A-Figure! Despite being a classic comic book based character and an army-builder, the Kree Sentry BAF is already selling for just 60 bucks two weeks after release. Is this first ML BAF of 2019 an underrated one?

And the most hype-worthy of the returning MCU mainstays is Samuel L. Jackson, who reportedly will be getting an origin story of a sorts in the film. And to celebrate, he’s also getting his first mass-released 6” figure: the young Nick Fury Marvel Legends movie figure (with Goose “cat”!) is now available online—is the future director of SHIELD worth your 20 bucks?

That’s why we got the weird Astral Doctor Strange figure a few years back, and it’s why we’re getting this Captain Marvel Legends figure in flight jacket. But unlike that Doctor Strange, this figure has a few things in its favor, including a new Brie Larson portrait and an exclusive Goose the Cat figure. Do these new additions warrant dropping $19.99 on this version of Carol?

I put my POs in for all those figures four months ago and then put them on the back-burner in my mind, knowing they’d show up in early 2019. And lo and behold–they have arrived! I’ll post full reviews of them in the coming days, but here’s my unboxing photos and first impressions…

Finally, we can get those orders in for that Marvel Legends Goose the Cat figure that we’re all been waiting for…! Happy New Year!
Continue Reading →While Hasbro has played all their Captain Marvel movie cards already, we’re still waiting to see exactly what kind of love Carol will be getting from some other prominent companies. Diamond Select Toys finally announced the first of their Captain Marvel collectibles this week (almost certainly with more to come), including a figure that most DST fans’ eyes will be fixed upon: the Marvel Select Captain Marvel figure is now up for order—and hey, there’s a Minimates box set too! But wait, is that… a price increase I see…?

Tokyo Comic Con 2018 is in full force this weekend, and although this isn’t a show that Hasbro attends, there are ample goodies to check out from other companies such as Hot Toys, Medicom and Kotobukiya. But the company who’s brought the most new Marvel figures to the show is Bandai Japan, who unveiled a plethora of new 6” figures, including SH Figuarts Captain Marvel, Agent Coulson, Nebula, Scarlet Witch, Loki and more!

And from Comic Con Paris today, we got a first look at two classic villains that have been waiting eons to get 6″Hasbro super-articulated figures of their own: the 2019 Marvel Legends Loki (Comic Book Version) and Grey Gargoyle figures!
Continue Reading →One of the things that I hear from collectors pretty much every single week is, “I wish Amazon would do pre-orders for upcoming Marvel Legends figures again!” Back in the good old days (okay, like a year or two ago), Amazon was the first place to offer figures like the X-Men Legends Juggernaut Series before any other retailer. Well, it looks like the olden days are back, because the first four Captain Marvel Marvel Legends 2019 figures are now up for order online, including movie Captain Marvel, Young Nick Fury, a Skrull and more!
Continue Reading →I had a little bit of an ulterior motive for talking about the 2019 Marvel Legends Hercules & Genis Captain Marvel Figures this morning. And that motive was: I didn’t want to be too far behind when Hasbro revealed more new Marvel Legends 2019 Figures tonight! Because for the first time ever, Hasbro unveiled upcoming Marvel Legends figures at the Unboxing Toy Convention in Mexico: 6” Living Laser, Nighthawk and the Kree Sentry Build-A-Figure!

Neither is a character that hasn’t been covered before by ML in some form, but I think fans will be in agreement that these are better renditions of these characters. Coming our way in the Avengers & Captain Marvel Marvel Legends waves next year: Hercules & Genis-Vell!

The Bishoujo Ms. Marvel Kamala Khan Statue debuted at New York Toy Fair 2017 in February and shipped in the fall, and, well… that was pretty much it. There wasn’t even a SDCC or NYCC exclusive Bishoujo this year. But the dry spell is finally coming to an end, with a statue that’s just begging for exclusive variants next year: the Kotobukiya Bishoujo Captain Marvel Statue is now up for order!

And if you’re a Marvel only collector, that’s been fine… until now! The sure-to-be best-selling Pixel Pals Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite figure two-packs are being released this week, and PDP sent over a set for us to review, including Gamora, Ryu, Rocket Raccoon, Chun Li and more!
