I’ve been so busy the past few weeks discussing all of the news regarding the most popular Marvel toys–such as Hasbro Marvel Legends figures–that I’ve neglected some of my favorite offerings from smaller lines. But now that things have cooled down a bit, let’s take a look at a trio of new entries into one of the cutest and most addictive high-end Marvel statue lines in the land–at SDCC 2016, Gentle Giant debuted Marvel Animated statues of Skottie Young Magneto, Punisher and the Vision!

Way back when I was a little tyke, the first Marvel figures that I ever owned were from the legendary Secret Wars line. Even though those figures are, uh… “not the best” by today’s standards, they’ve got a special spot in my heart.
Sadly, I don’t have the space (or hundred dollars a pop) to collect all of Gentle Giant’s Jumbo Secret Wars figures. But what I definitely can afford is the latest Gentle Giant brainchild: Secret Wars Micro Bobbles Figures are now up for order!
Continue Reading →Of all the Marvel collectibles shown at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, there was one unexpected surprise that delighted me more than any other. No, it isn’t more Marvel Legends or even new Hot Toys figures–it’s not even a line of traditional statues!
Nope, it’s the announcement of a line that I hope Gentle Giant goes deep into and releases dozens of characters for: mini Skottie Young Marvel Babies statues!
Continue Reading →2014 has been a mixed bag for Marvel statue collectors, as the original Marvel statue producer, Bowen Designs, exited Marvel statue production (possibly forever), while newcomers like XM Studios and Gentle Giant Ltd. entered the fray. No one was sure to expect when Gentle Giant announced their first Marvel Cinematic Universe statues in late 2013, but the Gentle Giant Captain America: The Winter Soldier Black Widow 18″ statue has now arrived, and the verdict is in: this statue is spectacular…
Continue Reading →Yesterday, Gentle Giant Ltd. unexpectedly announced a new line of 1/6th scale Jumbo Marvel Secret Wars action figures are on the way in 2015. That was a surprise announcement in and of itself, but I was even less prepared for the primarily negative response I’ve heard from collectors about the line and its price. The first figure in the line, the 12″ Jumbo Secret Wars Black Costume Spider-Man is now up for order–but is he worth 80 to 90 bucks? Here’s my thoughts…
Continue Reading →Just when I resigned myself that there wasn’t going to be much Marvel toy news to talk about before the holidays, word breaks that Gentle Giant Ltd. is launching their first-ever line of Marvel action figures! Yeah, I know–who doesn’t have a license to make Marvel figures these days, right? But these aren’t just any figures–they’re throwback jumbo 12″ figures based off of the vintage Marvel Secret Wars figures from 1984! And the first two figures coming our way will be Jumbo Black Costume Spider-Man and Hobgoblin!
Continue Reading →I genuinely thought that there was a chance I was going to get away scot-free without having to buy any of this year’s Gentle Giant San Diego Comic Con 2014 exclusives. I’m okay living without a mini bust of the Rebel Alliance’s resident butterball, Jek Porkins, and I need a two foot tall, $500 neon green, glow-in-the-dark Aliens figure even less. But then Gentle Giant had to go and do it. They had to make their Marvel exclusive something that I absolutely cannot live without.
He’s about to take the world by storm and become more popular than Spider-Man and Wolverine combined, so this exclusive is gonna be hot: the SDCC 2014 Rocket Raccoon Mini Bust has now been revealed!
Continue Reading →With the once-mighty Bowen Designs unlikely to release a single Marvel mini bust in 2014 (and maybe not ever again), superhero mini busts definitely appear to be on life support. Even so, Diamond Select Toys will give Marvel bust collectors at least something to smile about later this year, when they release a pair of Marvel mini busts based on 2014’s not-quite-hottest Marvel movie: the Amazing Spider-Man 2 Green Goblin and Spider-Man mini busts are now available for order!
Continue Reading →It’s been a little while since we’ve had a new high-end Marvel sculpture revealed to discuss, and far longer since there’s been a high-end statue or mini bust of a character who has never been given the high-end collectibles treatment before! With the Guardians of the Galaxy movie on the horizon, it’s not a big shocker to see some never-before-done characters getting the spotlight, and the leader of the team will be getting it first–the Gentle Giant Star-Lord Mini Bust is coming in Q4 2014!
Continue Reading →We’re less than three months away from the release of the sure-to-be-blockbuster Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie, so it was only a matter of time until the floodgates opened up to let in the tsunami of high-end Captain America 2 merch! While Hot Toys and Sideshow Collectibles haven’t debuted any of their Captain America The Winter Soldier statues and figures yet, Gentle Giant has drawn first (and second) blood with their Black Widow and Stealth Captain America quarter-scale statues!
Continue Reading →Back in fall 2013 during NYCC, Gentle Giant Ltd. sent out an E-Mail previewing the second entry in their line of Marvel Zombies Villains mini-busts: Zombie Venom! Sometimes it takes the better part of a year (or more) to see a mini bust go from concept form to fully-painted prototype ready to order, but luckily, that’s not the case this time: the Gentle Giant Venom Zombie mini bust photos are out and the sculpture is now up for pre-order!
Continue Reading →2013 has been a tough year for mini busts. The mini bust genre pioneer, Bowen Designs, only released a handful of mini busts this year and has zero (yes, zero) Marvel mini busts in the pipeline. Gentle Giant has continued fighting the good fight, but with low edition sizes the norm and prices far higher than they were a decade ago, mini busts’ days may be numbered. But there’s some hope–at least one more Marvel mini bust is now confirmed for 2014: the Gentle Giant 2014 PGM Exclusive Daredevil Mini-Bust!
Continue Reading →Marvel mini busts really seem to be a dying breed, with industry powerhouse Bowen Designs having not put a new one up for sale in many months and Gentle Giant LTD staggering their few Marvel bust releases throughout the year. So every Marvel mini bust that does get revealed is a big deal, even when that reveal is a simple repaint. Such is the case with Gentle Giant’s newest item reveal: the Previews Exclusive X-Force Deadpool Mini Bust…
Continue Reading →Though Gentle Giant Ltd. didn’t attend last weekend’s 2013 New York Comic Con event, they had a minor presence at the show in the form of their Marvel Zombies Magneto mini bust exclusive that was sold at the Marvel booth. In addition, Gentle Giant sent out E-Mails and unveiled several new products in honor of NYCC 2013 during the show, including the second in the series of Marvel Zombies mini-busts: the Gentle Giant 2014 Zombie Venom bust!
Continue Reading →Gentle Giant Marvel Bust collectors went into San Diego Comic-Con 2013 with certain expectations for what characters we might see added to the Marvel Mini Bust line, with certain heavy-hitters like Thor: The Dark World busts and Iron Fist and so forth in mind. What actually debuted at SDCC is a bust I suspect no one was expecting: the Gentle Giant Zombie Magneto Marvel Zombies bust! It’s only been a couple months since the reveal, but the exclusive Marvel Zombies Magneto bust will be up for sale in just one week at New York Comic Con 2013!
