I always try desperately to curb my spending around the holidays, but when a good deal comes up, a good deal comes up. So when Amazon temporarily mispriced the Iron Studios Rocket Raccoon & Groot BDS Statue down to 45 bucks last week, what was a GOTG fan to do besides one-click purchase them for himself, right? Weekends tend to be a pretty slow time for Marvel toy news, but this weekend is an exception. Even though there’s no major convention or event going on in the United States this weekend, there is a rather notable show going on in Asia: the Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2018! Last month, Iron Studios got my attention when they showed off their really neat comic-based Spider-Man and friends on bridge Battle Diorama Series statues. When some retailers in the United States started receiving stock of Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Wave 2 cases last week, the writing was on the wall that Hasbro would allow online retailers to take pre-orders for the series soon. Initially I heard the rumor that pre-orders would open May 8th, but obviously that didn’t pan out. But hey, two days later is better than two months later, right? When Target stores suddenly started restocking the original 2014 Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy series of figures a couple months ago, I speculated it was because 2017 GOTG Wave 2 wouldn’t be out for a while and Hasbro probably wanted Gamora and Rocket available before the movie hit. Of the many Funko Marvel Collector Corps boxes that have shipped since the advent of the series, the single most divisive box among subscribers was the MCC Guardians of the Galaxy box that shipped at the end of 2015. Personally, I loved the scarf and ornaments in that box–but not everyone shared my sentiments. But while that box wasn’t a unanimous hit, I think the latest one might be!
