With the plethora of Captain America: The Winter Soldier Hot Toys figures that have gone up for order over the past month, you’d be totally forgiven if you forgot Amazing Spider-Man 2 Hot Toys figures would be on the way as well (I sure did). But we’re just over two weeks away from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie release date of May 2, 2014, and Hot Toys has deigned that it’s time to get things started!

There was no doubt who the first figure released for the movie would be–the Sideshow Exclusive Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man 2 is now up for order!

I do it with blind-boxed vinyl figures. And two of the blind boxes that I picked up this week (of many) were my first two KidRobot Marvel Labbit Minis Series 2 “bloxes”. Of all the things that I was not expecting to see while wandering around the Diamond Comics Distribution booth’s display cases at this week’s New York Toy Fair 2014, a brand-new, unannounced deluxe MAFEX action figure set would have been near the top of the list. While we learned last month than MAFEX had a brand-new Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie figure on the way for later in 2014, what we didn’t know until Toy Fair 2014 is that they were also planning on releasing a special MAFEX Amazing Spider-Man 2 DX Set with a ton of accessories. Of course, the catch is that those accessories will cost you. A lot.

Sometimes Diamond Select Toys is very successful at keeping a secret, and sometimes they’re foiled by their own packaging materials! Though the Disney Store exclusive Marvel Select Superior Spider-Man figure was meant to be kept top-secret until Disney was ready to announce it, a photo of the figure was in the pamphlet that came with the most recent Marvel Select action figures. Diamond Select Toys confirmed last week that an Amazing Spider-Man 2 Marvel Select Figure was on the way, and this week they’ve released their first photos of the upcoming Marvel Select Amazing Spider-Man 2 action figure!

While it seems very unlikely based on what we’ve heard that there will be any super-villains released for Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the Marvel Select line, at least we’ll have Spider-Man wearing a fireman hat! The Marvel Select Amazing Spider-Man 2 figure is now up for pre-order!

If you have no clue what the heck “MAFEX” is, I’ll forgive you. See, Medicom just launched the Japananese MAFEX (Miracle Action Figure EX) line of action figures in Spring 2013, and there have only been two releases in the line thus far (MAFEX #1 Amazing Spider-Man and MAFEX #2 Batman). MAFEX #3 is set to arrive a full year after its predecessors, and, well… it’s Spider-Man again. But as far as Amazing Spider-Man 2 action figures go, this MAFEX Amazing Spider-Man 2 figure is looking pretty decent… but maybe not decent enough for its price-tag…

The Funko juggernaut can’t be stopped, and today Funko officially opened pre-orders and sent out the first images of the fully-painted Spider-Man and Electro Amazing Spider-Man 2 POP Vinyls figures!

While I don’t think this duo of POP! Vinyls figures can compete with the coolness of the Guardians of the Galaxy and Winter Soldier vinyl figures we’ve seen prototypes of the past few days, I figure at least one of these two figures is a “must buy” (and I imagine you all can guess which one)…
