Not to be outdone by Batman, Spider-Man is busting his Spider-Helicopter out of the garage next year and taking his fight against crime to the sky! Didn’t know Spider-Man owned a giant attack helicopter? Neither did anyone else, but LEGO has the inside scoop! Doctor Octopus has appeared more times in LEGO minifigure form than any other LEGO Marvel villain. So you would probably think that with there being five previous LEGO Doc Ock minifigure releases, at least one of those would have been a classic comic-inspired Doctor Octopus figure. Nope! Every single one of those LEGO Doctor Octopus (Octopi?) figures has been based on the Spider-Man 2 movie or Ultimate Spider-Man. Though full details and photos have leaked out of virtually every single LEGO 2014 winter set, LEGO has been extra-stingy with information and images of their 2014 LEGO Marvel offerings. I’ve got some confidential-stamped images (that I can’t post, for obvious reasons), but otherwise LEGO has managed to keep their LEGO Marvel 2014 intel very close to their vest.

I saw reported sightings of the new set of exclusive Toys R Us Marvel Minimates Wave 17 for the first time this morning, and decided to make it my new quest to see the Minimates wave in person. When Kotobukiya showed off the unpainted Bishoujo Spider-Woman statue sculpt at New York Comic Con 2013 one month ago, we knew it wasn’t going to be long until we saw the official painted photos of the piece and the opening of pre-orders.
Sure enough, over the weekend Kotobukiya released glamor shots of the statue, and the 2014 Kotobukiya Spider-Woman Bishoujo statue is now available for order!

LEGO has done a commendable job keeping their sets for next year under wraps up until now, but as we approach the new year leaks were bound to be sprung–and one such leak occurred this weekend, when the Canadian Walmart website accidentally posted the first hi-res images of one of the LEGO Marvel 2014 sets. Yesterday we got the unfortunate news that the last two Marvel Universe Team Pack three-packs were officially cancelled by Hasbro. Not to pile on all the bad news at once, I decided to hold off for a day before spreading a bit more gloom. Remember all those Marvel Legends running changes we’ve been waiting for (some of which for over a year), like the Marvel Legends Dani Moonstar and Red Deadpool variants?

The bad news is that I have now lost a bet and owe a friend five bucks. The good news is that the bet that I lost was my guess that the Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man Movie Masterpiece Series figure would be delayed into 2014! After countless delays and the figure not even being shown at San Diego Comic Con 2013, I thought it was very possible the Amazing Spider-Man Hot Toys figure would fail to make it out before the end of 2013. But I was wrong–it’s taken quite a while, but the Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man MMS 179 figure has now been released overseas!

Though Gentle Giant Ltd. didn’t attend last weekend’s 2013 New York Comic Con event, they had a minor presence at the show in the form of their Marvel Zombies Magneto mini bust exclusive that was sold at the Marvel booth. In addition, Gentle Giant sent out E-Mails and unveiled several new products in honor of NYCC 2013 during the show, including the second in the series of Marvel Zombies mini-busts: the Gentle Giant 2014 Zombie Venom bust!
