Hasbro has been taking the slow and steady approach throughout 2024, giving Marvel Legends collectors a few little treats each month, rather than hammering fans with wave after wave of figures as in past years. But speaking of past years, this week’s offerings are a blast from the past, bringing back two of the most popular ML of the last half decade: reissues of the X-Men Legends Professor X in Hoverchair and Spider-Man Legends Retro Green Goblin are now up for order!

Marvel Legends Phoenix & Magik Figures Up for Order!

It’s been a pretty good year for the Phoenix entity, first getting an origin in the X-Men comics and then the first-ever ongoing Phoenix ongoing comic book series launching this week. But that’s not the only Jean Grey milestone this week! For the first time in many years, Hasbro has a new (not Dark) Marvel Legends Phoenix figure up for order—and it’s a deluxe release with a huge fiery Phoenix Force entity effect base! It’s a bit on the pricey side, but there’s no denying how lovely it is! Will this be flying into your display, Marvel collectors? There’s no doubt that Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men comic books run was a watershed moment for the merry mutants, and John Cassaday’s costume designs for the x-Men have had enduring popularity as a result. So even though Toybiz released a very nice Astonishing Wolverine in 2005, it’s no shocker to see Hasbro upgrading that iteration of Logan in the 85th Anniversary Marvel Legends series during Wolverine’s own 50th anniversary. The 2024 Marvel Legends Astonishing X-Men Wolverine figure is starting to ship now—is this the ultimate release of this version?

Hasbro brought their A-game to this week’s new Hasbro Pulse Marvel Legends stream of figure reveals, but the most immediate ones were for figures semi-confirmed by leaked prototypes that surfaced over the last few weeks. There was quite a bit of buzz surrounding those leaks, but now fans can lock in their reservations and pine away for the actual products: Marvel Legends Superior Spider-Man and Astonishing X-Men Wolverine are now up for order!

Way back in my 2017 review, I thought the X-Men Legends Cyclops figure in the Warlock Series was acceptable, despite its flaws, because we were in the middle of a Jim Lee Cyclops famine. In 2024, not so much. We’ve seen numerous representations of Cyke in this costume in the interim, but as far as Hasbro 6” figures go, the newly-released X-Men 97 Marvel Legends Cyclops easily takes the crown as the best Jim Lee Cyclops figure ever made…
