While all of the most prominent companies that make Marvel figures, statues and toys made their presence known at this week’s San Diego Comic Con 2013, some of the smaller manufacturers–including Diamond Select Toys–brought their A-Game to the show as well! Art Asylum had been holding out on us for a while so that they’d have lots of new figures to debut at SDCC 2013, including the just-revealed and very awesome Marvel Minimates Wave 54 and Toys R Us Marvel Minimates Wave 18!

They said it couldn’t be done. And by “they” I mean “Diamond Select Toys”, and by “it” I mean more Marvel Zombies Minimates. Weeks ago in their latest Q&A Diamond reaffirmed they were no longer allowed to make Marvel Zombies figures. Either they lied or (more likely) something changed, as today an all-new and totally-unexpected item went up for pre-order: the Minimates Marvel Zombies Villains Box Set!

Now we come to what I expect to be the final Marvel Minimates SDCC 2013 Exclusive to be announced, and it’s a big one: the Marvel Minimates Iron Man 3 Hall of Armors 10-Pack coming from retailer Action Figure Express! On paper, this sounds like it has the potential to be one of the coolest Marvel San Diego Comic-Con 2013 exclusives. In execution, well… not so much.

Well, we might as well start calling it “San Diego Deadpool Con 2013”, because another Marvel exclusive has been announced for the show, and yes–it’s also Deadpool themed. You can always count on Diamond Select Toys to come up with at least one totally unexpected, off-the-wall Marvel Minimates SDCC exclusive set each year. And, well–I’d venture to say this is that one, this year. It’s the San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Deadpools Assemble Minimates set!

I thought that we were done with Marvel SDCC 2013 exclusive announcements for the week, but clearly Diamond Select Toys had other ideas! There’s not usually a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Marvel Select action figure, so I wasn’t expecting to see a SDCC Marvel Select Exclusive–and there’s not one. What we do always get like clockwork for Comic-Con season is exclusive Marvel Minimates, though–and the first such set for this year has been revealed: the SDCC 2013 Exclusive Wolverine Saga Minimates box set!

We only saw Diamond Select Toys unveil the full Iron Man 3 Minimates series in full last month, but the series has now arrived in comic book stores (slightly after the Iron Man 3 movie)! We’ve known the lineup for Marvel Minimates Series 51 by Diamond Select Toys for quite a while. Based on “Marvel NOW!”, the set features characters like the new Nova (Sam Alexander), Maria Hill, Nick Fury Jr. (don’t ask), and Shanna the She-Devil. We saw all high-resolution photos of all those figures weeks ago. But Diamond Select Toys had one card left to play, and they flipped it at C2E2 2013 in Chicago over the weekend: the reveal of the Marvel Minimates Wave 51 Captain America Steve Rogers Minimate figure!
