Over my years of attending cons, I’ve passed people wearing shirts with the slogan “Anime: Crack is Cheaper” dozens of times. Well, I think that motto could be modified a bit into a very appropriate “Collecting Vinyl Figures: Crack is Cheaper”. I have a serious vinyl figure addiction that extends to many lines–but not the Medicom Marvel Retro Sofubi line. At least, not until now–the Retro Rocket Raccoon & Hulk Sofubi figures are now up for order!

With Bowen Designs still on hiatus until further notice (if not forever), sixth scale Marvel statue collectors are suffering from some serious withdrawal. With quarter-scale statues being all the rage these days, collectors with limited space–or who just plain prefer something smaller–have had to turn to the only other company producing Marvel 1/6 statues: Kotobukiya. And after a long wait, the first 1/6 Kotobukiya Marvel statue of 2015 has arrived: the Danger Room Sessions Brown Costume Wolverine statue!

Today’s the day that the pre-summer blockbuster “Avengers: Age of Ultron” movie finally hits theaters in Europe and other parts of the world that aren’t the United States!

While I only spent a combined total of about 12 hours at the New York Toy Fair 2015 in February (and 36 hours fighting through a snowstorm to get home), I got to see just about everything exciting that was on display at the event. I woke up this morning to the terrifying realization that there was no caffeine in the house. Seeking to avert this catastrophe, I decided to do an early-morning Target run, even though I wasn’t on the hunt for anything of the non-caffeinated variety. Luckily, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a Target in my entire life without checking the toy department, so I had to do a quick check–and discovered some figures I didn’t even know were out! The sorta-awaited 4″ Hasbro Avengers Age of Ultron Scarlet Witch, Iron Legion, War Machine and more have now been released!

Diamond Select Toys can be pretty hit or miss with releasing movie Marvel Minimates in time for a new flick’s theatrical release, as corresponding Minimates sometimes hit months after a film’s release.
But the first set of Avengers Age of Ultron Minimates was right on schedule and is currently on store shelves–and now we can look forward to Avengers Age of Ultron Minimates Wave 2 arriving late this summer, including Vision, Bruce Banner, Hulk and Hulkbuster Iron Man!

Given the thousands of dollars of Hot Toys Avengers Age of Ultron figures that have gone up for pre-order in the past few months, I really thought that Hot Toys might be giving their collectors a week off from the financially-crippling onslaught of new pre-orders. While the Hasbro Marvel Legends Infinite Series 3 3/4″ figures are back in 2015 for another year, the style and articulation level of new molds have undergone a drastic change going forward. This switch hasn’t exactly been met with open arms by collectors, but I decided to pick up the new Black Cat figure for review anyway.
