While some Marvel fans will insist that it’s decidedly uncool to,claim your favorite Captain America villain is anyone other than the Red Skull, my personal favorite villain is the far more morally ambiguous Baron Zemo. Baron Zemo swag doesn’t tend to light the collecting world on fire, however, so high-end Baron Zemo collectibles aren’t all that common.

I have a love-hate relationship with Funko POP Vinyls that leans more toward “love” as time goes on, but I have nothing but the purest love for the Funko Mystery Minis Blind Box figures. They’re cheaper, smaller, tend to have better quality control, and come with the thrill that you only get pulling random blind box figures!

While we got a spectrum of Funko Mystery Minis licensed figure in 2013 ranging from My Little Pony to Walking Dead to DC, the line will expand again in 2014, when Funko Marvel Mystery Minis Series 1 is released!

2013 has been a tough year for mini busts. The mini bust genre pioneer, Bowen Designs, only released a handful of mini busts this year and has zero (yes, zero) Marvel mini busts in the pipeline. Gentle Giant has continued fighting the good fight, but with low edition sizes the norm and prices far higher than they were a decade ago, mini busts’ days may be numbered. On the exact same day that I receive a $300 1/6 scale figure of a character variation that appears on-screen in a movie for the blink of an eye, another company announces an even bigger 1/4 scale version of that figure for less than a third of the price. This is a crazy, crazy world that we live in.
