Hot Toys Hulk Review Avengers 1:6 Scale Figure MMS 186

Hot Toys Hulk Movie Masterpiece Series Figure Review

I’ve talked a great deal about Marvel Hot Toys figures since I started this blog (especially about the Hot Toys Avengers figures), but I haven’t put forward an official Avengers Hot Toys figure review–until now.

Last week I received the biggest Marvel Hot Toys figure ever released, and though he’s the most atypical figure in the line so far, I figured I’d begin my reviews with him. It’s the absolutely massive beast that is MMS 186: the Avengers Hot Toys Hulk sixth scale figure!

Comic Book Reviews for 9/18/2013: Infinity #3, New Avengers #10

Uncanny X-Men #12 Cover Battle of the Atom

I read a lot of comic books every month, and sometimes I get the itch to review them. As it’s comic books more than any other form of media that fuel my action figure collecting hobby, I’m including comic book reviews here on Marvel Toy News (if you don’t like it, yell at me).

In this installment, I’ll be covering comics released on 9/18/2013, including reviews of Infinity #3, New Avengers #10, Uncanny X-Men #12, Thor God of Thunder #18 and more…

Hot Toys Iron Man 3 Busts Deluxe Set Up for Order!

Hot Toys Iron Man 3 Busts Set Deluxe Set of 8

Hot Toys is wagering that you just can’t get enough merch from Iron Man 3, so in honor of the Iron Man 3 DVD/Blu Ray being released today, they’ve put up a new item for Iron Man Hot Toys fans to buy–though it’s not exactly the one collectors have been waiting for!

Though Hot Toys collectors have been chomping at the bit, nervously waiting for the chance to pre-order the Hot Toys Midas Iron Man 1/6 scale figure, that will have to wait for another day. Instead, the Hot Toys Iron Man 3 Busts Deluxe Set of 8 is now available for pre-order!

Tamashii Nation Exclusive SH Figuarts Iron Man Mark VI Black Ver!

SH Figuarts Black Iron Man Tamashii Nations 2013 Exclusive Figure

Sometimes knowing too much about collecting can be a real drag. Case in point being when you you see the term “Tamashii Nation Exclusive” and instantly let out an audible groan because you know how expensive those are to obtain.

Such is what happened today, when I saw the Tamashii Nation Exclusive Iron Man Mark VI Black Ver. figure announced for release in Japan this November…

Funko Peter Parker POP! Vinyl Exclusive to Comikaze Expo 2013!

Peter Parker POP Vinyls Bobble Head Exclusive Comikazee Expo

Ever since I posted leaked photos from the new Funko book that was out on display at San Diego Comic-Con 2013, I’ve been wondering when and where the elusive Peter Parker Funko POP! Vinyl figure would make itself known. Well, it’s taken several months, but now we know for certain–the Funko Peter Parker POP! Vinyls Bobble-Head figure will be available exclusively at Stan Lee’s Comikazee Expo in Los Angeles, from November 1-3, 2013!

J. Scott Campbell Spider-Man Comiquette Exclusive Up for Order!

Sideshow Spider-Man J. Scott Campbell Maquette Up for Order

When Sideshow Collectibles put up the teaser images of their upcoming J. Scott Campbell Spider-Man Comiquette statue trio, I was quite certain the only one I’d be getting was Gwen Stacy. I hate Mary Jane as a rule, and I didn’t think the Spider-Man J. Scott Campbell statue would bring anything to the table I hadn’t seen before. I was so wrong, though, as the exclusive version of the J. Scott Campbell Spiderman Comiquette comes with a partially unmasked Peter Parker head that just may be my favorite head for a Spider-Man statue ever–and the Sideshow Exclusive Edition Spider-Man Statue is now up for pre-order!

Marvel Vinylmation Yellowjacket & Wasp LE Set Announced!

Vinylmation Marvel Yellowjacket Figure Hank Pym LE 1000

We’ve known for a little while now that Disney is unleashing the first series of Disney Vinylmation Marvel Series #1 next month (it drops October 11, 2013 in the Disney Parks and Disney Stores), but Disney has been teasing us with details little by little. At last weekend’s Disney Reflections of Evil event, Disney finally put on display the prototype figures that will make up the set–including a previously unannounced Marvel Vinylmation Yellowjacket & The Wasp set limited to 1000 produced!

New York Comic Con 2013: No Hasbro Marvel Action Figures Panel

A lot of fans who attended this year’s Hasbro Marvel action figures panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 were pretty disappointed in the feel of the panel and number of reveals contained within. Well, as big of a let down as that SDCC Marvel Toys panel may have been, it’s not nearly as big a bummer as the Hasbro Marvel panel at New York Comic Con 2013–because it appears that there isn’t going to be a panel for attendees at all…

NYCC 2013 Exclusive Marvel Agents of SHIELD Agent Badge (eFX)

NYCC 2013 Agents of Shield Badge Prop Replica Exclusive Agent Phil Coulson

Sad but true: There are not a ton of great Marvel exclusives for New York Comic Con 2013. There’s that awesome Funko Stan Lee POP! Vinyls figure announced a few weeks back, but that’s really it for Marvel toys collectors. LEGO is not attending NYCC 2013, and Diamond Select Toys has confirmed they won’t be bringing any Marvel Minimates NYCC 2013 exclusives. So Marvel collectors will definitely have some extra cash to burn at New York Comic Con next month–and eFX is setting their sights on it with this newly announced Marvel Agents of SHIELD Agent Badge & ID Card customized exclusive…

Marvel Legends Hawkeye Figure (Modern Variant) Review Wave 5 2013

2013 Marvel Legends Modern Hawkeye Variant Firing Bow

Over the course of the last month, I’ve talked about the highs of Marvel Legends Wave 6 (Black Panther and The Wrecker) and the lows of the set (like Jim Lee Jean Grey) in my series of Marvel Legends 2013 figure reviews. So it seems pretty fitting that I end the series of reviews with the figure from the set that’s the most in the middle of the road as neither especially good nor particularly bad. Though he’s not the version most collectors wanted to see first, it’s the Marvel NOW! Marvel Legends Hawkeye figure!

Amazing David Vonner Interview on Marvelicious Toys Podcast

David Vonner Hasbro Senior Designer Marvel Universe Dave Vonner

I listen to about four total different podcasts. Not every week, or even month–but total, overall. Three are toy-related podcasts, and one is a Disney podcast (yeah, I’m a nerd, if you can believe that). I don’t typically try to pander my taste in podcasts to others, but every once in a while I’ll listen to a show that will just knock my socks off. And to my delight, I listened to one last week–a recent episode of the Marvelicious Toys podcast, in which the hosts interviewed former Hasbro Senior Product Designer David Vonner about all things Marvel Universe…

Marvel Select Hawkeye Classic Figure Reissue Announced for 2014!

Marvel Select Classic Hawkeye Figure Packaged March 2014 Reissue

I guess “exclusives” just aren’t what they used to be. Last month Diamond Select Toys announced that they were bringing back the formerly Disney Store exclusive Marvel Select Classic Thor 7″ action figure as a mass market regular release.

Now, that trend is set to continue in 2014 as the Marvel Select Hawkeye Classic figure will make its way back to stores…

Marvel Minimates Wave 50 Released w/ Onslaught Songbird & Zemo!

Marvel Minimates Songbird & Cyborg Spider-Man Figures

In 2012, Diamond Select Toys gave fans the opportunity to vote for the lineup of Marvel Minimates wave 50. A year later, the figures selected by over 30,000 fans have finally hit stores! I had a bout of hubris today, as I thought I’d just stroll into my local comic book store the day after Marvel Minimates Wave 50 was released and snatch up a complete set of the Minimates Fan’s Choice Series. As you may have guessed by the way I framed that sentence, things didn’t go exactly as planned…

Marvel Universe Wave 23 Ghost Rider & Grey Hulk Variant Figures

Marvel Universe 2013 Ghost Rider Variant Figure Wave 23 Metallic Paint

With the Marvel Universe 3 3/4″ action figure line in its death throes, Hasbro is determined to keep things “interesting” (if that’s what you want to call it) until the very end.

Almost every Marvel Universe 2013 wave of figures is coming with some unannounced surprise variants of old figures mixed in, and Marvel Universe Wave 23 keeps the fun going with new Grey Hulk and Ghost Rider figures…

Marvel Universe Wave 23 Figures Released! Dagger A-Bomb Variants

Marvel Universe Wave 23 Figures Set Baron Zemo Cloak Abomination Iron Man

Though Hasbro only allowed retailers to begin taking pre-orders for Marvel Universe Wave 23 (2013 Series 4) less than two months ago, the latest (and second last) wave of Hasbro Marvel Universe figures has begun hitting stores in the United States!

This series includes six all-new figures for the Marvel Universe line, but thanks to Hasbro’s not-so-genius packing strategies, two of them are variant figures that are going to make you want to pull your hair out…
