Kotobukiya only brought along a singular piece of concept art for their long-running Marvel Bishoujo statues series when they travelled to New York Toy Fair 2020 during the winter, so there was never any mystery regarding what the next release would be: Felicia Hardy, the Black Cat. The original 2011 release required an awful support stand and looked too much like a little girl for me, so I had high hopes for this new iteration. And now that the Kotobukiya Black Cat Steals Your Heart Bishoujo statue is up for order, I’m happy to say that my optimism has been rewarded…

And this time out, Hasbro officially confirmed a figure that’s been heavily rumored since early in the year: the 2020 Marvel Legends Toxin figure is now up for order! This massive symbiote may look familiar to those who have either version of the Monster Venom figure that Hasbro has released twice now—is enough different to warrant a fresh purchase of this deluxe boxed figure?
Continue Reading →Jumping back to my series of X-Men Marvel Legends Age of Apocalypse wave figures, today I’m going to check out the token female figure in the series! In one of her most unique looks ever, it’s the Marvel Legends X-Men Age of Apocalypse Jean Grey figure that’s available online now! AOA Jean Grey comes with a whopping zero accessories of her own, but also one of the biggest Build-A-Figure parts ever—does it even out and make her a worthwhile purchase?
Continue Reading →While it was a virtual certainty that we’d see a Marvel Legends Black Widow movie series in 2020, I don’t think many folks would have placed money on the Build-A-Figure of the series being Gennady Gavrilov, the 8th Crimson Dynamo who debuted in the 2003 “Crimson Dynamo” limited series! The rationale for the Marvel Legends Crimson Dynamo BAF being included in the Black Widow wave was obviously “Russian”, which is a little bit of a tenuous connection. But does that make this a bad figure? Not at all…
Continue Reading →We are almost at the halfway point of 2020, and up until now, Sideshow Collectibles has only launched pre-orders on a single 1/4 Marvel Premium Format Figure statue this entire year (a new version of Deadpool). But that changed this week, when a long-teased character was finally solicited. And this isn’t a redo either—it’s an all-new character for Sideshow (and a villain at that!): the Sideshow Exclusive Taskmaster Premium Format Figure went up for sale this week! Is this classic comics-based baddie worth buying for big bucks…?
Continue Reading →Like many lines of Marvel collectibles, it’s been a slow start to 2020 for the long-running Marvel Select range of 7″ action figures. The only new figure shown in the first months of the year was a Black Widow movie Taskmaster Select in the spring. But in a surprise move this week, the second new release of the year was also revealed–and it’s also Taskmaster (this time, comic book-styled)! The Disney Store Exclusive Marvel Select Taskmaster is now up for order–but he’s carrying the highest price-point ever in the line! Let’s take a look…
Continue Reading →Last week I discussed half of Iron Studios’ latest round of 1:10 scale X-Men Battle Diorama Series statues by looking at a quartet of new pieces including Sabretooth, Pyro, Colossus and Omega Red. But IS has gone all-in on the X-Men, and there’s still another trifecta of heavy-hitter headliners to preview: the Iron Studios Jean Grey, Emma Frost and Bishop BDS statues are all up for order now! Does IS continue their hot streak with more definitive versions of iconic X-Men team members…?
Continue Reading →If you had asked me a year ago what X-Men characters I never in my life thought would be made as super-articulated Hasbro Marvel Legends, Sugar Man would have definitely been on that list. But that was before Hasbro announced an entire series of Age of Apocalypse figures, defying fans’ expectations by not making the Build-A-Figure Holocaust or Apocalypse or Sabretooth, but instead… the Sugar Man! And so, the Sugar Man BAF has now cometh for those who bought the whole wave! Is this monstrous menace worth assembling…?
Continue Reading →It’s a weird time to be a DC Direct collector, as DC Direct decided to cut ties with Diamond Distributors this week. Luckily, all is peachy as usual in the world of Diamond Select Toys Marvel collectibles—and in fact, DST even closed out this week with the announcement of two all-new statue solicitations! Skottie Young and Wolverine fans will all be happy: Marvel Animated Doctor Doom and Marvel Premier Collection Old Man Logan statues are now up for order!
Continue Reading →Earlier this weekend, I discussed the two brand new items in the latest round of Marvel Diamond Select Toys solicitations—but that pairing isn’t all that DST has up their sleeves! While we haven’t seen an actual new Marvel Select figure announced since movie Taskmaster at the start of the year (a new one is expected to be revealed next week, though), Diamond has two mass re-releases of previously hard-to-get exclusive figures: Marvel Select Planet Hulk & Modern Thanos figures are now up for order!
Continue Reading →After an agonizingly slow several months for Marvel collectors, things are starting to heat up again for collectors with several Marvel Legends series starting to arrive and many new pre-orders rolling in. And Iron Studios in particular is on the assault with their 1:10 Battle Diorama Series—Iron Studios X-Men Colossus, Sabretooth, Pyro and Omega Red statues are all up for order now! How are these space-saving, wallet-saving statues looking? Let’s have a peek…
Continue Reading →Of all the characters to come out of the X-Men Age of Apocalypse storyline, the strongest case can arguably be made for X-Man (Nate Grey) being the most impactful character to survive that universe and cross into the 616. So it feels fully appropriate that the alternate universe Cable make an appearance in this first wave of Marvel Legends Age of Apocalypse X-Men figures! Although he’s pre-sold out through Amazon and BBTS, EE still has Marvel Legends X-Man 6″ figure pre-orders available! Is he worth snagging?
Continue Reading →San Diego Comic-Con May have been cancelled quite a while ago now, but that doesn’t mean that companies planning SDCC 2020 Exclusives have suddenly thrown all their hard work preparing special products for the show out the window! Instead, we’re seeing quite a few companies move this year’s convention exclusives to an online distribution method—including Diamond Select Toys. And their first Marvel SDCC 2020 Exclusives are now up for order: Marvel Gallery Negative Suit Spider-Man and a Zombie Deadpool Bust!
Continue Reading →It was only a week and a half ago that Hasbro dropped a double-digit number of new pre-orders on us with the Spider-Man Retro Series and more, but already they’re prepped and ready to roll with a fresh round of solicits: the 2020 Marvel Legends Deadpool & X-Force Strong Guy Series is now up for order! We’ve been seeing dribbles of this wave revealed since Sunspot and Warpath at NYCC 2019, but finally the whole assortment has been revealed, including Shiklah and… Pirate Deadpool?!

2020 has been a slow year thus far for Marvel Select figures, with only a singular figure (Black Widow movie Taskmaster) revealed during the first 5 months of the year. And while Diamond Select Toys hasn’t announced or rolled out any more all-new figures just yet, they do have something of a treat for newer collectors to help fill the void: reissues of the previously-exclusive Marvel Select Hulkbuster Iron Man and Mighty Thor figures are now up for order! And on an unrelated note–there’s an all-new Marvel Gallery Spider-Man PVC as well…
