Hasbro interrupted a winter that’s been largely quiet for Marvel Legends news with a slew of new reveals and announcements to kick off this week. First up on the pre-order front is an assortment of fan-demanded MCU movie figures that’s better late than never. From last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine, Marvel Legends X-23, Blade, Cassandra Nova, Brown Suit Wolverine and more are now up for order!

While every release in the Marvel Legends Maximum line of figures so far has had its naysayers, I think Maximum Deadpool received the chilliest reception at reveal. With so many Deadpool Legends already in circulation, could the Deadpool Maximum really offer enough to warrant the 50 bucks it costs? Deadpool was actually the very first character I ever bought a full-body resin statue for, way back in 2005 (from Bowen Designs). So you could say I was a Deadpool-collecting fanboy before Deadpool was cool—or at least since before he was gratuitously merchandised. Peter David’s X-Factor 90s run might be the first X-Men spin-off comic book series that I ever truly loved, so to say Hasbro got my attention when they started building this roster in super-articulated form would be an understatement. I was skeptical the team would come to fruition, but with Guido’s arrival this summer, 90s X-Factor is (more ore less) complete! You’ll have to buy every figure in this year’s Marvel Legends X-Force/Deadpool wave to build the Strong Guy Build-A-Figure: is he worth it?

When Hasbro announced another “Marvel Legends Fan First Friday Tuesday Edition”, my mind immediately raced to recall what figures we still hadn’t seen put up for pre-order at New York Toy Fair 2020 (which has sadly turned out to be the only major toy event of the year). Two figures remained—Venomized Miles Morales and Gwenom Spider-Gwen—so it’s no surprise those were part of the reveal: the 2020 Marvel Legends Venom Venompool Build-A-Figure Series of figures goes up for order today! With a mix of movie, GamerVerse, classic comic book and modern comics characters, this is definitely an eclectic wave…!
