I’ll be filling in as many blanks as possible in my 2019 Marvel Legends reviews over the course of the next month and a half, and but today I paused that track to do an unboxing that will eventually lead to six reviews in one later this week! It was a spectacular surprise when Hasbro solicited the exclusive Marvel Legends Alpha Flight figures set in late summer, and they have now actually shipped and arrived on doorsteps a few weeks earlier than planned! How’d the set turn out? Here’s my impressions…

While companies look the other way and ignore early reactions to products far too often for many fans’ liking, this week we’ve seen two examples where feedback was heard and the art is a vast improvement as a result. The first example was the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, where Sonic at least looks like himself and not a monster now (even if the writing still doesn’t seem impeccable). The other—and actually relevant—instance is the latest Sideshow Collectibles statue: the J. Scott Campbell Spider-Man & Mary Jane maquette is now up for order!

Despite the expense, the Sideshow Juggernaut Exclusive statue is already long sold out, and the regular edition 1:4 Juggernaut maquette is likely to sell out quickly as well! While the biggest headline news of this last week of October 2019 is unquestionably the arrival of easy pre-orders for the first pair of Hasbro Marvel Legends 2020 figures, that doesn’t mean that other companies have been quietly idling! Sideshow in particular has been active this week with their Sideshow Spooktacular event, where they launched LE 150 Shadowland Daredevil and X-Force Psylocke statues that each sold out in an hour or so, and also launched a statue many have been waiting for: the Avengers Assemble Sideshow Exclusive Black Widow statue is now up for order!

One vinyl I foolishly sold for 20 bucks was the ECCC 2013 green Phoenix exclusive, which I’ve never had the willpower to rebuy for hundreds of dollars.
