While Hasbro brought a decent number of new figures to their NYCC 2013 press event to reveal for their 2014 Marvel Legends Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man action figure lines, the amount of new product they had to show for next year’s Captain America push was comparatively low. Even so, there was some neat stuff to be had, such as newly-announced figures for the Marvel Legends Captain America Infinite Series 2014–including the Mandroid Build-A-Figure!

I wasn’t expecting a whole lot of news to come out from the NYCC 2013 Hasbro Press Event (after all, if there’s a lot of new product to show, why not have a panel at New York Comic Con itself or at least an exhibitor’s booth set up?). To my surprise, Hasbro debuted a significant number of never-seen-before Hasbro Marvel figures, including a series that just may be my favorite 6″ line of next year.

I heard reports of the Thor: The Dark World figures from Hasbro hitting stores in decent numbers about a week ago, and this weekend I finally managed to track them down in person.
Unfortunately, it appears that stores forgot to send Hasbro a memo to let them know that there are thousands (maybe millions) of figures of Thor himself still in stores from two years ago…

Over the course of the last month, I’ve talked about the highs of Marvel Legends Wave 6 (Black Panther and The Wrecker) and the lows of the set (like Jim Lee Jean Grey) in my series of Marvel Legends 2013 figure reviews. A couple months ago Hasbro revealed the first series of their new 4″ Avengers Assemble figure line, which left out certain other high-profile members of the team. Fans had panicked flashbacks to past superhero lines that were cancelled without the teams being completed. Luckily, that’s not going to be the case with this cartoon-based Avengers Assemble action figure line. Avengers Assemble Series 2 will contain all the team members necessary to complete the team, and has one of the best case ratios I’ve ever seen!

If you’ve looked at the header for Marvel Toy News (or the Facebook cover, or the Twitter icon or the Facebook avatar), then you might have some suspicions that I have a ‘thing’ for the Scarlet Spider. And you would be absolutely right. I am a huge fan of the current Marvel Comics ongoing “Scarlet Spider” book by Christoper Yost, and as such this was my most-anticipated Marvel Legends figure of 2013 (after the raccoon).
