I’d honestly had my doubts about the Kotobukiya Marvel NOW! Avengers ArtFX+ statues line, but whatever skepticism I had was washed away by the highly-impressive Kotobukiya Hulk ArtFX+ statue that I reviewed earlier this week.

Well that was fast, now wasn’t it? Over the weekend the first painted prototype images of the Figma Avengers Thor 6″ Figure surfaced from a Japanese magazine. Good Smile Company (the distributor of Figma figures) has now released hi-res images of the 6″ Figma Thor action figure, and pre-orders for the Figma Thor are now available!

Considering that we had seen at least the untainted prototypes of five of the six Kotobukiya Avengers ArtFX+ statues at NYCC 2013 in October, I had an expectation of seeing the whole lineup at New York Toy Fair 2014 this weekend.

I was not disappointed–the Avengers Kotobukiya Iron Man ArtFX+ statue has been revealed, and he brought the painted Kotobukiya Thor statue along for the ride!

LEGO Marvel 2014 Hulk Lab Smash Review Part 1: Minifigures

Though I run both a LEGO blog and a Marvel blog, I don’t buy every LEGO Marvel set. With LEGO there are just so many high-priced items each year, and usually they’re better than the Marvel LEGO ones. That said, as soon as I saw the LEGO Marvel Hulk Lab Smash 76018 set, I knew it would be coming home. And sure enough, I walked into the LEGO Store Tuesday, saw LEGO 76018, bought it on sight, and built it immediately. I’ll review the playset portion of this set later, and discuss what everyone really wants to hear about first: the minifigures!

Hot Toys saw fit to grace us with a pair of different Thor The Dark World Hot Toys Thor figures this morning. One of them is the super-limited Hot Toys Thor Light Asgardian Armor Version that’s going sleeveless, while the other figure is this standard MMS 224 Thor sixth scale figure (with sleeves!). In general I always end up wanting the hard-to-get exclusive Hot Toys figures, but in a weird twist of fate, for a change it’s the non-limited version of this Hot Toys figure that I prefer… and this Hot Toys Thor the Dark World 1/6 scale figure is now up for order!

If you’ve been waiting with bated breath for Hot Toys to churn out an unspeakably lame exclusive, you’re in luck! I’m one of those people whose eyes Hot Toys can ordinarily do no wrong in, but even I have to admit this particular limited Hot Toys figure is pretty weak.
