Though Hasbro’s new-for-2014 “Marvel Super Hero Mashers” action figures aren’t tops on most collectors’ lists, the line seems to be at least moderately well-received at retail, where I’m seeing most characters (that aren’t Hawkeye) sold out on a regular basis. And it’s a lucky thing that the line is selling decently so far, as Hasbro has several more assortments planned for the first half of 2014, including the recently-announced Marvel Super Hero Mashers Venom, Falcon Loki, Doc Ock and Green Goblin figures!

Slowly but surely, the last 2013 Hasbro Marvel figures are finding their way to retail! Though the Wolverine Legends Puck Series of Marvel Legends 6″ figures missed the theatrical release of “The Wolverine” movie by two months, this series of Wolverine Marvel Legends figures never really had anything to do with the movie to begin with (other than the fact that Wolverine stars in both). Many toy manufacturers would cower in terror before turning tail and running away from the prospect of producing action figures for a superhero movie in which only one character has super powers, the main cast is full of civilians and women, and no one wears a costume. My expectations were set pretty low for the not-quite-summer-blockbuster 2013 “The Wolverine” movie, but this Wolverine movie ended up being a far more satisfying experience than its predecessor. Even so, wary toy companies didn’t exactly flock to make merchandise for “The Wolverine”, and we got a grand total of zero mass-market action figures in time for the movie. However, Diamond Select Toys has finally swooped in to the rescue, beginning with this super-impressive 7″ Marvel Select The Wolverine figure that has just been released!

When you collect a line as long as I’ve collected Bowen Designs Marvel sculptures, you expect to see some familiar faces redone. Such is the case with the October 2013 Bowen statues that have just gone up for order, as both statues are of characters that we’ve seen multiple times before in the Bowen Marvel Statues line. One of the characters has appeared twice before from Bowen and the other a near uncountable number of times–it’s the Bowen Designs Green Goblin Museum Statue and Astonishing X-Men Wolverine Statues!

Iron Man 3 has been “the next big Marvel movie” for so long that it’s hard to reconcile that the movie is out in theaters now, and the true next big Marvel movie is “The Wolverine”, opening July 26th, 2013! Don’t get me wrong–“The Wolverine” is going to do fairly well at the box office, but it’s not going to gross nearly as much as “Iron Man 3”, nor is it going to have a fraction of the breadth and depth of the various toy lines merchandising Iron Man 3.
