One cool thing about being a Marvel collector is that with the sheer magnitude of the number of different items released every year, you’re liable to run into things you didn’t even know existed when you’re out shopping casually. This doesn’t happen to me often (at all), but this weekend I stumbled across one of this year’s most bizarre Marvel lines: the new Kidrobot Marvel Labbit Vinyl Figures Blind Box series! If you’ve ever dreamed of owning Galactus in the form of a small plastic rabbit, now’s your chance…

I woke up this morning, rolled over, flicked on my iPhone, and found myself staring into the sneering, ticked-off face of Hugh Jackman. It was a good morning.
Out of the blue and defying expectations, Hot Toys abruptly fully-revealed their “The Wolverine” Hot Toys sixth scale figure, based on the summer’s (not-quite) blockbuster Wolverine movie! Coming in 2014, the Hot Toys The Wolverine Movie Masterpiece Series figure is now up for pre-order!
Continue Reading →Many toy manufacturers would cower in terror before turning tail and running away from the prospect of producing action figures for a superhero movie in which only one character has super powers, the main cast is full of civilians and women, and no one wears a costume. Diamond Select Toys is not one of those companies, and is in fact the only toy company to make a near-comprehensive figure line based on this summer’s “The Wolverine” movie–The Wolverine Marvel Minimates Wave 52 figures have now been released in stores!
Continue Reading →My expectations were set pretty low for the not-quite-summer-blockbuster 2013 “The Wolverine” movie, but this Wolverine movie ended up being a far more satisfying experience than its predecessor. Even so, wary toy companies didn’t exactly flock to make merchandise for “The Wolverine”, and we got a grand total of zero mass-market action figures in time for the movie. However, Diamond Select Toys has finally swooped in to the rescue, beginning with this super-impressive 7″ Marvel Select The Wolverine figure that has just been released!
Continue Reading →While all of the most prominent companies that make Marvel figures, statues and toys made their presence known at this week’s San Diego Comic Con 2013, some of the smaller manufacturers–including Diamond Select Toys–brought their A-Game to the show as well! Art Asylum had been holding out on us for a while so that they’d have lots of new figures to debut at SDCC 2013, including the just-revealed and very awesome Marvel Minimates Wave 54 and Toys R Us Marvel Minimates Wave 18!

No, the big controversy isn’t that Funko made Logan’s hair way too brown (even though they did)–it’s the fact that this Logan Funko POP! Vinyl Bobble Head isn’t a Bobble Head at all…
Continue Reading →When you collect a line as long as I’ve collected Bowen Designs Marvel sculptures, you expect to see some familiar faces redone. Such is the case with the October 2013 Bowen statues that have just gone up for order, as both statues are of characters that we’ve seen multiple times before in the Bowen Marvel Statues line. One of the characters has appeared twice before from Bowen and the other a near uncountable number of times–it’s the Bowen Designs Green Goblin Museum Statue and Astonishing X-Men Wolverine Statues!
Continue Reading →I promise that I didn’t purposely go out looking for them, but I did happen to stumble upon the Hasbro “The Wolverine” movie figures at Toys R Us this weekend. It’s pretty unusual for new Marvel action figures to be out in stores in New England before I’ve heard loads of people talking about having found and bought them online beforehand. Of course, in this case, that might be because while collectors have found the movie Wolverine figures in stores, they may not actually be buying them…
Continue Reading →Last week I discussed the upcoming Disney Vinylmation Marvel Series #1 lineup of Avengers Marvel vinyl figures–but Disney isn’t the only toy company looking to cash in on Marvel vinyls in 2013! Coming up later this summer, Kidrobot will take their own crack at Marvel designer vinyls, when they release their first wave of Kidrobot Marvel MUNNY vinyl figures in various sizes and even keychains!
Continue Reading →Some startling news for Hasbro 6″ Marvel Legends collectors was discovered in the Toys section of the new July 2013 Previews Magazine (Issue 298). In what I believe is a first for Hasbro’s Marvel brand, the Wolverine Legends Marvel Legends series is apparently going to be a Previews exclusive.
That might sound scary at first. But don’t panic. That’s not necessarily a bad thing…
Continue Reading →At the rate we’re going, we just may know every Marvel San Diego Comic Con exclusive toy from every company within a few more days. Hot on the heels of last week’s Hasbro and Diamond Select Toys reveals, we learned about three of the Funko Marvel POP! Vinyl exclusives yesterday. And today, we can add another three 2013 SDCC Exclusive POP! Vinyls to the list: Black-And-White Variants of the Dr. Doom, Wolverine, and Spider-Man Vinyl Bobble-Head figures!
Continue Reading →There hasn’t been a whole lot of X-Men toy news to report lately (as in none), but one of the rarest of all branches of X-Men merchandise had a new figure finally arrive after being on pre-order for way over a year: it’s the X-Men Hot Toys Wolverine Figure based on Wolverine’s appearance in “X-Men: The Last Stand”. This Wolverine Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece just arrived in Asia earlier this month, and it has made its way to the United States at lightning-fast speed, where pre-orders are now starting to be received by happy collectors!
Continue Reading →Iron Man 3 has been “the next big Marvel movie” for so long that it’s hard to reconcile that the movie is out in theaters now, and the true next big Marvel movie is “The Wolverine”, opening July 26th, 2013! Don’t get me wrong–“The Wolverine” is going to do fairly well at the box office, but it’s not going to gross nearly as much as “Iron Man 3”, nor is it going to have a fraction of the breadth and depth of the various toy lines merchandising Iron Man 3. Even so, Hasbro is putting out some The Wolverine figures to commemorate the movie. But having seen the prototypes now, I kind of wish they weren’t…
