Marvel Legends 12″ Deadpool Variants! X-Force! Wolverine!

While the majority of the new 6″ Marvel Legends figures that Hasbro announced at SDCC 2017 were expected than unexpected, I don’t think anyone was expecting the three new sixth scale figures premiering at the event. Not only was a Jim Lee Wolverine 12″ figure shown off on display early on in the convention, but during the Hasbro Marvel panel, Marvel Legends 12″ X-Force Deadpool and Agent of Weapon X Deadpool figures were revealed!

Marvel Legends X-Force Deadpool 12 Inch Figure

The 12″ Marvel Legends figures series is a bit of an odd duck in that every figure released to date has been quickly discounted by huge amounts by the chains carrying the line, and yet the series itself keeps on chugging along.

From an outside perspective the line doesn’t seem to be performing very well, but Hasbro (and stores) must be at least reasonably happy with the 12″ series if new figures keep getting show and stores keep signing up for exclusives.

The Target Exclusive Symbiote Spider-Man 12″ figure began hitting stores last month, and the second exclusive release in the line has now been announced: a Toys R Us Exclusive Marvel Legends 12″ X-Force Deadpool figure!

The grey Deadpool costume is easily Wade’s second most recognizable and marketable look from the comics, so it makes sense that Toys R Us would want to take on this iteration of Deadpool as an exclusive release.

Marvel Legends Deadpool Agent of Weapon X 12 Inch FigureWhat makes less sense to me, however, was the announcement that a Marvel Legends Weapon X Deadpool 12″ figure is also going to be released–as a mass market retail item. This is the “Inverse Deadpool” black and red costume that Funko first released a toy of half a decade ago (which happens to be one of the first Funko reviews I ever wrote!).

Wade Wilson only wore this costume in a handful of issues, and it’s not one that we see released very often at all (although Kotobukiya did just release an ARTFX+ repaint in this color scheme). Coupled with the facts that the iconic red Deadpool was cleared out at half price and that the brown on the arms (not usually included on toys) makes this particular sixth scale figure pretty ugly, and I’m legit concerned that this Deadpool variant is going to bomb hard at retail.

Marvel Legends 12 Inch Wolverine

What I think is almost a sure-fire best-seller (at least, as far as best-sellers within this series go) is the 12″ Marvel Legends Wolverine that was announced during San Diego Comic-Con. I posted photos of the 12″ Wolverine figure when it was first put out on display during the show, but it turns out that the figure is even better than we initially thought!

Not only are we getting the standard display options with this Jim Lee Wolverine 12″ figure, but we’re also getting two alternate heads: a fully-unmasked Logan head (with retracted mask) and a Battle-Damaged Wolverine head with berserker rage angry expression. But that’s not all–! There’s also battle-damaged, bullet-ridden interchangeable shoulder pads!

With all of these bonus optional accessories, this hands down looks like the best 12″ Marvel Legends figure yet!

12 Inch marvel Legends Wolverine Unmasked FigureThe Marvel Legends 12″ Wolverine and Agent of Weapon X figures should be available online and in stores later on this year, with the 12″ Black Panther figure announced during D23 Expo 2017 arriving in Spring 2018. I’ll post updates and links to order all three figures both here on the site and also on our social media once they go live online. I’ll also update once more release information regarding the Toys R Us Exclusive X-Force Deadpool is available.

Alright, Legends collectors, let’s hear it! Has Hasbro managed to win over any of you fence-sitters to giving the 12″ line a try with any of their new Wolverine, Deadpool, or Black Panther reveals? What do you think of the Weapon X Deadpool’s chances of selling well at mass retail, and are you planning to snag any of the four newly announced figures?

Marvel Legends 12″ Deadpool Variants! X-Force! Wolverine! — 15 Comments

  1. The Thor figure is on shelves at TRU. I saw three of them yesterday. I considered buying one, but I don’t really have a place for twelve inch figures in my collection.

  2. Still can’t stand yellow-and-blue Wolverine. If they repaint this one, I’ll snag it, but unless it’s tan and brown or maybe X-Force colors, no dice, and to hell with Jim Lee for changing the outfit.

    • You do realize the yellow and blue is his original look right? Jim Lee didn’t change it.aan

    • As Byron noted, yellow and blue is Wolverine’s original look. He didn’t get the yellow and brown costume until the 80s, and then he went BACK to his yellow and blue in the 90s, with some small changes.

  3. I’m pretty “meh” on all of the ML 12-inch line. I prefer my sixth scale more in the Sideshow and Hot Toys realm. However, this Wolverine looks decent. And if he was more the original yellow & blue (with an optional Hulk 181 first-appearance masked head) than the Jim Lee version that’s missing stripes and has WAY too big shoulder guards, then I would be more into it.

  4. I really like my 12″ Spidey but I don’t see myself getting more. I have a friend who would love a 12″ Cyclops, Wolverine gives me hope for that!

  5. I’m a sucker for these 12 legends, love the black spidefy and DP, but that wolverine is the best yet!!!

  6. I already have all of the 12inch figures sofar , if they continue to make them ill buy them.

  7. Im PRAYING this line continues! ! There are SOOOOO many characters we need in a comic version 1/6 scale.

  8. I just blew my load over the Wolverine figure. This is the first 12″ I’m actually interested in.

  9. Can someone ask Hasbro when they plan to release a femail in the 12 inch format.. Thiis is starting to look too much like a sausage fest

    • Sure, but I imagine it’ll be a while–if ever–before we get a female. Even headliner characters like Deadpool and Spider-Man are bombing in this line and instantly going to clearance prices, so I’m not convinced that Hasbro is going to want to take chances with a female character, which typically have lower sales for them.
