I love Hot Toys; I love Iron Man 3. Ergo, I typically have no problem whatsoever with Hot Toys milking the Iron Man 3 license and sucking our wallets dry. That said, even I had to furrow my brow today–just a little bit–when Hot Toys announced an all-new Iron Man 3 Hot Toys Hall of Armor House Party Protocol Version diorama! You’ll be able to build your own Iron Man 3-style Hall of Armor, and the price is supposed to be affordable, but, well… the quality of this new House Party Protocol Hall of Armor definitely remains to be seen…

Last month Hot Toys released a teaser poster, giving us our first look at the Hot Toys 2014 Toy Fairs Exclusive figures–including (as expected) another Iron Man figure from Iron Man 3. I wrote about two-thirds of an article overnight discussing what I thought the exclusive was going to be and why based off of the teaser photo, but then Hot Toys had to go and spoil the whole thing by doing a full reveal the next morning. Well, I’m just full of “wrong” lately. With under a week until the beginning of San Diego Comic Con 2014, I had truly figured that Hot Toys would hold off on debuting any new Movie Masterpiece Series figures–particularly the Hot Toys Guardians of the Galaxy figures–so that they’d be able to premiere them at SDCC 2014. Evidently, Hot Toys figured otherwise. But I’m glad they did, because the first Guardians of the Galaxy Hot Toys figure unveiled is the one I wanted to see most–the MMS 252 Hot Toys Rocket Raccoon figure is now up for order!

This is going to sound like complete and utter blasphemy coming from me, but I was sort of hoping that there wasn’t going to be a SDCC 2014 LEGO Marvel exclusive this year. The San Diego Comic Con LEGO Marvel minifigure exclusives have traditionally been both difficult and extremely expensive to acquire, so I would have been just fine with LEGO forgoing any Comic-Con exclusive LEGO Marvel sets this year.

But with a week to go until Comic-Con, they just had to go and announce an exclusive I can’t live without–it’s the SDCC 2014 LEGO Rocket Raccoon’s Warbird set exclusive!

It’s time to call Hela, because Hel just froze over! For the second time in under a month, I’m excited about a Kotobukiya Marvel Bishoujo statue. Ordinarily I find the statues in this particular line to end up more than a little slutty-looking, but Koto really impressed me with their SDCC 2014 Psylocke Bishoujo exclusive. Following up the major pre-orders opening up for the Hot Toys Iron Man Bones Mark XLI figure and the Sideshow Sentinel Maquette, we have a Kotobukiya full reveal that fans have been waiting for literally all year! Kotobukiya meant to display the unpainted prototype of the Kotobukiya Brown Costume Wolverine Fine Arts statue at New York Toy Fair 2014, but snowstorms disagreed with their wishes. I was pretty lucky during the first ten days of Sideshow Collectibles’ Online Comic Con 2014 event. And by “lucky”, I mean that Sideshow didn’t put up a single item that I was going to be dropping hundreds of dollars on. A couple days ago I declared that the Mighty Muggs Rom Space Knight figure was the most out-of-left-field exclusive for this month’s San Diego Comic Con 2014. Well, I stand by that original assessment.

But if there was a prize for second most out-of-left-field SDCC 2014 exclusive, it would probably go to UCC Distributing for an exclusive they’re partnered up with Marvel and Hasbro for. He’s cosplayed as Hulk, Wolverine, Thor, Captain America and Spider-Man–and this month you’ll be able to get your own 2014 SDCC Exclusive Deadpool Mr. Potato Head: Dead Peel!
