My favorite character in The Avengers movie isn’t Captain America or Thor or Iron Man or even Loki (okay, Loki is close). No, my favorite characters in Marvel’s The Avengers film is Agent Phil Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D. Joss Whedon can make you fanboy out over a character like nobody else, and then make you curse Whedon’s name as he ruthlessly kills that character off. Luckily, you can’t keep a good S.H.I.E.L.D. agent down, and Phil Coulson will return to screens this fall in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series. And to celebrate the occasion, the amazing Hot Toys Agent Phil Coulson Movie Masterpiece Series figure has now been released!

I did a little bit of a double take when I saw this week’s Diamond Comics Distribution shipping list, as it confirmed that a figure that’s been delayed a handful of times was finally on its way to collectors’ hands this Wednesday. Though the Iron Man 3 movie was released in theaters close to two months ago now, the Marvel Select Iron Man 3 figures have been lagging behind a bit.

When you collect a line as long as I’ve collected Bowen Designs Marvel sculptures, you expect to see some familiar faces redone. Such is the case with the October 2013 Bowen statues that have just gone up for order, as both statues are of characters that we’ve seen multiple times before in the Bowen Marvel Statues line. One of the characters has appeared twice before from Bowen and the other a near uncountable number of times–it’s the Bowen Designs Green Goblin Museum Statue and Astonishing X-Men Wolverine Statues!

Even after the Avenger Hot Toys Hulk figure had been available for pre-order for months, many collectors laughed and said it couldn’t be done and the figure would be cancelled. People said that the design didn’t lend itself well to the work that Hot Toys does, or that the figure was just too big to be produced, or that the project was taking too long and would be cancelled. But today, Hot Toys has definitely proven all of those people wrong. The Hot Toys Avengers Hulk figure has now been released overseas, and it is one massive beauty of a figure!

If you read my blogs regularly, you know I’m majorly obsessive compulsive–especially when it comes to toys. It’s for that reason that I don’t buy a lot of Marvel Funko POP! Vinyls, even though I love vinyl figures and the designs that Funko comes up with. The paint apps quality control on Funko POP! Vinyls can be very hit or miss, so rather than make myself nuts, I’ll often stay away from characters I can pass on. This Inverse Deadpool Exclusive, however, was not a figure I could easily skip. I was beginning to wonder if Hasbro was going to bother sending out high-res images of the upcoming 3.75″ Avengers Assemble Series 1 action figures, but it seems I started to doubt just a little bit too soon!
Today, Hasbro sent out press images of five of the six figures scheduled for the first series of figures based on the new Avengers Assemble cartoon: Red Skull, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk and even The Falcon!

Earlier this month, I posted an article about the surprise reveal of a Marvel Funko POP! Tony Stark vinyl figure being released as an exclusive at the Philippine Toy Con 2013, as well as at SDCC 2013. At that time, I speculated that Tony’s longtime comrade James Rhodes would probably be joining Tony as a San Diego Comic Con 2013 exclusive. We’ve known for months that there were going to be two limited release Marvel Select Iron Man 3 figures in addition to the Iron Man 3 Marvel Select War Machine and Iron Man Mark 42 mass release figures, and today Diamond Select Toys finally broke the news of the identities of this final duo of movie figures.
It’s not exactly a big surprise, but the pair now stand revealed as Iron Man 3 Marvel Select Iron Patriot and Battle-Damaged Iron Man Mark XLII!

It’s pretty unusual for new Marvel action figures to be out in stores in New England before I’ve heard loads of people talking about having found and bought them online beforehand. I don’t just like Shuma Gorath. I love Shuma Gorath. No, seriously. How much do I love Shuma Gorath? I mained Shuma Gorath in every Capcom video game he’s appeared in, including Marvel vs. Capcom 3. In fact, I am wearing a Shuma Gorath T-Shirt right now, even though I had no conception whatsoever that I’d be writing about Shuma Gorath today (as the opportunity to do so has literally never come up before). Anyway, my point is that I love Shuma-Gorath, and the relevance of that fact is that I just ordered my first Shuma Gorath figure ever this afternoon–the Heroclix Shuma Gorath 2013 Convention Exclusive figure!

Kotobukiya has a real treat lined up to close out the 2013 lineup of Marvel Bishoujo statues: an all-new X-Force Psylocke Bishoujo statue! While Kotobukiya has released Psylocke before, the original Psylocke statue is 1:8 scale and out of scale with the current Bishoujo figures being released (not to mention mega-expensive).
