Medicom dropped the jaws of Marvel collectors around the world earlier this winter, when they revealed that their first-ever Marvel comics-based MAFEX figure was going to be none other than… the Unbelievable Gwenpool?! (Yup—that is pretty unbelievable!) Diamond Select Toys only releases around a dozen total Marvel Select action figures per year, so ordinarily they put their best foot forward and seldom disappoint. But to my dismay, one of the first releases of 2018 looked like it was going to be a rare misfire based off of the final packaged photos. When Baby Groot danced into our hearts at the end of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, collectibles companies were caught off-guard and needed quite a few months to catch up.
