While there were a “few” leaks prior to New York Toy Fair 2020 that threw a monkey wrench into some of Hasbro’s big announcements at the show, Hasbro was still able to surprise fans with a multitude of totally unexpected reveals—including new releases for movies fans haven’t seen toys for in close to two decades! When Kaiyido Revoltech solicited their first Marvel comics-based figure almost four years ago (Deadpool), I wondered if the market really had space for another expensive 6” Marvel figures series. The answer was clearly “yes”, as Kaiyodo has been expanding the range each year since, and has given us more X-Men characters than any other import line. When Diamond Select Toys debuted their humongous Archangel statue at NYCC 2019 last October, I had my doubts they could keep it below the usual $199 Premier Collection price-point regardless of what the placard said at the event. And I was right, as Warren is actually priced at a surprising $399 MSRP! Thankfully, EE has the Marvel Premier Collection marked down a more $319 shipped for pre-orders. From Jubilee and Boom Boom to Beast and Gambit, Hasbro fulfilled a record number of X-Men collectors’ dreams in 2019. And I’ve got one more left to talk about–of a figure I’ve been wanting for 27 years! The X-Men Arcade Game hit arcades in 1992, featuring five of the most iconic team members ever… and Dazzler! Alison Blaire was my go-to character in that game, and I’ve wanted a good action figure of her in that 80s costume practically all my life. I happily paid full price for her this summer, but the Marvel Legends Vintage Dazzler figure is 10 bucks online today–should you get one?

While Sideshow Collectibles’ Marvel sixth scale figures line got off to a rocky start with a 1/6 Deadpool that’s still available over half a decade after going up for sale (seriously), the figures that came after him sold much better—including the Brown Costume Wolverine that swiftly sold out and escalated in value on the aftermarket. Turns out demand for Logan wasn’t met, many collectors cried out for more, and here he is: the 1/6 Sideshow Wolverine Tiger Stripe figure is now up for order!

Last month, Iron Studios debuted their mind-blowingly X-Men vs. Sentinel statue that, while amazing, 99%+ of collectors could (or would) never, ever pay ~$1800 for. But all is not lost for X-Men fans with smaller display areas (or smaller credit limits)! Iron Studios had a plan for those collectors as well, and after a few weeks of slowly rolling them out, affordably-priced Iron Studios Cyclops, Wolverine, Beast and Rogue statues are all up for order individually! If you can’t have these with the massive Sentinel diorama, are worth the investment?

Thought the Marvel Legends 2020 figure reveals were over until after the holidays…? Think again! Hasbro continued their world tour this weekend at the Germany Dortmund Comic-Con, where they revealed two new exclusives that cover somewhere between 2 and 6 characters depending on how you count! Not only is a Retro Storm in Black Costume 6″ figure now up for order, but Hasbro also revealed the widely-rumored Walgreens Exclusive Marvel Legends Stepford Cuckoos figure! The only question for Cuckoos fans is: how many will you need to be satisfied? One, 3 for the Three-In-One… or going all out with 5 for the Five-In-One?

The bad news this week for much of the United States was that we got blasted with the most major winter storm so far this year and had to dig ourselves out. The good news is that I finally got snow for the first time this year in my neck of the woods (16” of it, to be exact!), which meant that at long last I could take a certain X-Men Legends 6” figure for outdoor review photos! The Marvel Legends Iceman Vintage series figure is already down to 13 bucks shipped just a few months after being released, but is this Bobby Drake figure really all that bad…?
