Ever since they sold out last year, the Avengers Hot Toys Hawkeye and Nick Fury sixth-scale figures have exploded in price on the aftermarket. As such, many collectors have been putting the newly-released Hot Toys Avengers figures aside temporarily while they save up and spend their money to get the earlier-released Hot Toys Nick Fury and Hawkeye. And while that stratagem would seem to make sense, collectors should be on high alert: the Avengers Hot Toys Hulk, Black Widow, and Captain America figures have now all sold out as well!

I was one of those collectors who was trying to be “smart” and prioritize the Hot Toys Nick Fury and Hawkeye figures that I was missing, so I skipped out on ordering the Avengers sixth-scale Black Widow and Captain America figures.

Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time, but now I ended up paying a fair amount over the original retail price for each, as they’re now sold out at Sideshow Collectibles, the official distributor for Hot Toys figures in America. (There’s still a chance to get on the Sideshow Wait List for Black Widow, but Captain America is now officially sold-out.) But these aren’t the only two 1/6 scale Avengers Hot Toys figures to sell out in the past week…

The most surprising sell-out to collectors–and the one that should scare collectors who haven’t pre-ordered yet the most–is the Avengers Hot Toys Hulk 1/6 scale figure. Unlike the sixth-scale Avengers Captain America and Black Widow figures, the Avengers Hulk Hot Toys figure hasn’t even been released yet. In fact, the Hulk isn’t expected to appear for at least two more months! Though the Hot Toys Hulk has a scheduled June 2013 release date, he’ll probably be pushed back at least another month, meaning that he’ll have been sold-out for a quarter of a year before the figure is even released.

Considering that a lot of fans are paying $400+ now for the Hot Toys Hawkeye sixth-scale figure that didn’t even sell out until after released, there’s no telling what such an early sell-out will do to the aftermarket price of the Hot Toys Hulk. Personally, I’d recommend getting on the Wait List for the Hulk over at Sideshow Collectibles right now–there’s still a good chance of getting Hulk when other orders are cancelled, and it’ll be a lot better than paying some astronomical price on ebay later this year.
