While the most Deadpool-iest day ever for Deadpool fans is still over a month away (when Wade’s major movie will be released in theaters), today is officially the most Deadpool-iest day ever for toy collectors of the Merc with a Mouth: the Hot Toys Deadpool Sixth Scale Figure is now up for order! Is the most high-end Wade Wilson action figure ever made worth a purchase? Let’s take a look… [Spoilers: He is.]
And now that we’ve had a few weeks to drool at what is almost unquestionably the ultimate Wade Wilson action figure, the big days has finally arrived: the MMS 347 Hot Toys Deadpool figure will go up for order later today!
I love that Hot Toys developed the costume for this figure with battle-damage and wear in mind–a battle-tested mercenary like DP really shouldn’t be standing around in a pristine costume, and the weathering on this figure looks outstanding.
One thing that particularly stood out to me in the official solicitation description for MMS347 is that this figure apparently features a “newly-developed body” mold. Hmm! Could Hot Toys have invested in a new, slightly thinner and more super-articulated body just for lithe characters such as Wade and Spider-Man who require a bit more flexibility? I can’t wait to get this figure in-hand and find out!
Any concerns that folks had about the posing potential of this figure due to the fabric costume should be eased by the photos showing that this Deadpool 12″ figure is clearly super-poseable despite the costume.
Here’s one feature that the MMS347 Deadpool has that I’ve never seen on a sixth scale figure before: interchangeable eyes! Yes, that’s right: this figure comes with five pairs of eyes that you can freely slide in and out of Wade’s mask in order to give the character a variety of facial expressions and really make ‘Pool emote in ways otherwise impossible.
I’m just gonna outright say it: I love the interchangeable eyes. I think they’re straight-up ingenious, and one of the best possible accessories that could have come with this figure.
I’m actually really glad that I purchased the Sideshow Deadpool sixth scale figure last year now, as I think some of the accessories that that version came with such as the word bubbles and extra guns are really going to complete this figure! I never thought I’d be happy to have purchased an additional $200+ figure for its accessories, but I guess there’s a first time for everything!
Priced at 1430HKD overseas, I would expect Sideshow Collectibles to be charging around $220-$235 for this figure taking into account their import expenses. At that price, I think this incredible-looking Deadpool 12″ figure that is loaded with accessories is a terrific value.
[UPDATE 1/6/2016: I was dead-on. Sideshow is charging $234.99 for this figure, which I think is totally fair given the amount of accessories and the new body mold created for it.]
The Hot Toys Deadpool Movie Masterpiece Series figure is now up for order, and is scheduled to be released in mid-2016 (somewhere between July and September). With Deadpool being ridiculously popular with die-hard fans and hardcore collectors, and this likely to be the only Deadpool Hot Toys figure ever made, I can definitely see this figure being a sell-out long before it even ships.
This just may be Hot Toys’ “hottest” figure of 2016, and I would definitely recommend locking in a pre-order in this instance if you know you’re gonna want Wade.
For me, this figure is an instant pre-order the minute it goes up for order, no questions asked. But what about you, Marvel collectors? Is this the ultimate sixth scale Deadpool figure and a must-have for your collection, or are you waiting to see how much you like the Deadpool movie before making a decision on this Movie Masterpiece Series figure?
Damn either this or the Batman, I chose the latter.
It’s a nice Batman figure! I don’t know if I can stomach Affleck Batman, though. Gotta see the movie first.
I hear ya, i dont know how he’ll be as batman/ Bruce but the look is awesome, i think it’s so far so good.
This is an instant preorder for me as well.
It is a great looking figure. But somebody over there at HotToys needs to quit elevating the prices of these figures. Not to long ago a figure like this would have been 159 or 169. Not 229. Please Hottoys. I love your product but I am going to have to stop collecting if you keep jacking up your rates.
Still not up for pre order 🙁
Humm it looks like a slam dunk for me dammit I said I wasn’t collecting anymore there go’s my New Years resolution !!!?
Mine too.
