They say you never forget your first time getting a Hot Toys figure. Well, this is my first time, and I know it’s going to be unforgettable, because the Hot Toys sixth-scale figure that I’ve received first (I have about a dozen on pre-order) is one that I’ve been waiting literally an entire year for: the Hot Toys Avengers Loki figure!
I sat around the house pacing all day waiting for UPS to deliver him so that I could sign for Loki, as Sideshow Collectibles requires signatures for all orders of $185 and up. By the time the UPS truck finally pulled up and dropped off Loki, I didn’t have enough time to fully enjoy him this afternoon, so I compromised and took a bunch of photos of me taking him out of the packaging instead.
Loki comes in the standard, unassuming brown cardboard mailer box. Considering how much these Marvel Avengers Hot Toys figures cost, I feel like the mailer box should be made of gold or something. At least the slipcover inside the mailer box is a pretty green, though. The foil Avengers logo on the box looks really nice on the green, incidentally.
The moment of truth: the slipcover is being removed from the Avengers Hot Toys Loki figure we’ve all been waiting a year for.
Oh wait–remember that gold box I was asking for earlier? Well, here it is! Rich and golden, this box looks terrific for the godly Loki.
The back of Loki’s box is maybe a little bit too plain and gold, but whatever–no one buys Marvel Hot Toys figures for the boxes, after all. They buy them for what’s inside: namely, this beautiful, beautiful Loki figure and all of its accessories including manacles, daggers, and helmet.
There’s a second tray underneath the Loki figure containing the Hot Toys Loki cape, figure stand, and both a long scepter and a short scepter. The scepters look as realistic and gorgeous as they did in the promotional photos used to sell the figure, which is always a great sign. I can’t wait until I have time to open this Loki Movie Masterpiece Series figure a little bit later this week!
If you’re still wanting a Loki Hot Toys figure of your own, options are limited, as most online stores are sold out. Your best bet now is to get on the Hot Toys Loki Wait List at Sideshow Collectibles–my Wait List orders almost always convert, and it’ll save you from spending a ton buying Loki on the aftermarket.
If you think you might want a Loki figure, I’d advise jumping on one now. Don’t underestimate Tom Hiddleston’s “heartthrob factor”–this is gonna be crazy expensive in a few months. I’ll post a full photo gallery and Avengers Hot Toys Loki review in just a few days.
