While I only spent a combined total of about 12 hours at the New York Toy Fair 2015 in February (and 36 hours fighting through a snowstorm to get home), I got to see just about everything exciting that was on display at the event. And by “just about”, I mean there was one item I really wanted to see but circumstances caused me to miss. I’ll be able to see it up-close and personal very soon, though–the Marvel Select Doctor Strange figure is now up for order!

Diamond Select Toys pulled a bit of a fast one on me at the 2015 Toy Fair, as I thought I had seen all of the Marvel products that they had brought to show off at the event during my appointment.

As fate would have it, however, there was one 2015 Marvel Select action figure that didn’t get approved by Disney/Marvel to debut until the latter half of the event: a comics-based Doctor Strange figure!

Stephen Strange is such a prominent individual in the Marvel Universe that I’m actually a bit shocked it’s taken DST as long as it has to get to him in glorious 7″ Marvel Select figure form. But with a Doctor Strange movie on the horizon, now was obviously the destined time for such a toy to manifest!

We haven’t had a 6″-7″ Dr. Strange action figure since Toybiz Marvel Legends Series 9, so we’re definitely way past due for some new figures of the Sorcerer Supreme!

While Hasbro is opting for a modern comics-based Doctor Strange Marvel Legends figure for this summer, Diamond Select Toys is giving us a totally-classic Doctor Strange (my preference by far).

Marvel Select Doctor Strange will feature the usual 16 points of articulation and a Sanctum Sanctorum base. I would’ve liked some hex spell effects with Strange like the ones Hasbro has been releasing this year, but if DST is planning to include any, they haven’t revealed them yet.

I would be stunned if this Doctor Strange figure isn’t publicly displayed for the masses for the first time at C2E2 2015 this weekend. If so, I’ll post hi-res photos of Marvel Select Dr. Strange during the event. Look forward to it!

The Doctor Strange Marvel Select figure is now available for order, and is expected to be released in September 2015. I suspect Dr. Strange will be another hot figure like the Marvel Select Carnage was, so if you missed Carnage, don’t forget to lock in a reservation this time.
