NYCC 2019: Marvel Legends Fantastic Four Series Figures Photos!

Back at San Diego Comic Con 2019, Hasbro unveiled new Marvel Legends Doctor Doom and a modern She-Hulk figures that weren’t obviously associated with any upcoming series of figures. But today at New York Comic Con 2019, the other shoe officially dropped—a full-on Marvel Legends Fantastic Four Series is coming to mass retail to kick off 2019–and it will include new versions of all four members of the Fantastic 4 team themselves!

Marvel Legends 2020 Fantastic Four Series Revealed

Right up until Funko revealed a whole line of Fantastic Four POP Vinyls earlier this week, I was unsure just how cool with F4 merchandising Disney was feeling these days. But once I saw those POPs and Mystery Minis, I realized it was going to be full steam ahead!

And so, at the Hasbro Press interview this afternoon, it was not at all shocking when four figures were revealed of a familial quartet: modern black costume versions of Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and The Thing!

Fantastic Four Legends Mr. Fantastic Figure Hasbro 2020

It’s been many years since we saw non-exclusive six inch figures of the FF on store shelves, so I’m delighted to see Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben making their returns to the toy aisle on or about January 1st, 2020!

Hasbro forgot to bring along his interchangeable hands to the NYCC interview, but the new Marvel Legends Mr. Fantastic will come with alternate hands with elongated fingers.

Marvel Legends Thing 2020 Figure NYCC 2019

The new Marvel Legends Thing figure comes with an all-new head sculpt—and if you don’t like this version or think it would look better on the Walgreens Thing body, the heads are swappable so you can just switch them up.

Personally, I think the new head is totally rockin’ (no ‘rock’ pun intended), and will probably pop it onto my Walgreens ML Thing.

Back of 2020 Marvel Legends The Thing Figure

The Thing Walgreens exclusive was a real pain in the ass for many collectors to find and never got anywhere near meeting demand, so a mass release Ben Grimm is a genuine blessing.

Invisible Woman Marvel Legends 2020 Figure NYCC 2019

The new Marvel Legends Invisible Woman comes in a black costume that matches the rest of the team and includes a new invisible shield effects piece accessory.

The invisible shield is pretty neat, and I’m curious to see where else Hasbro can repurpose this accessory for future figures. There’s only so many times you can see the same recolored effects!

NYCC 2019 Marvel Legends Human Torch Johnny Storm Figure

Finally, we’ve got a new Marvel Legends Johnny Storm Human Torch. This is obviously totally different from the Walgreens Human Torch, who was permanently “flamed-on”.

Back of Johnny Storm Marvel Legends 2020 Figure

This Legends Johnny Storm has new effects pieces of his own—cool little flames that attach to his hands. I think these would go very well with a Pyro down the road, and I’m sure many other characters could make good use of these.

NYCC 2019 Fantastic Four Legends She-Hulk Figure

We’ve previously seen them at SDCC 2019, but the new grey She Hulk and Dr. Doom made encore appearances at NYCC 2019 as well.

This is not at all a fan-favorite version of the Hulk, but as this Jennifer Walters has been rather important in the Marvel comic books the last few years, I think this is a good version to do—even if what many fans really want is a new classic Shulkie.

2020 Marvel Legends Fantastic Four Doctor Doom Figure New York Comic Con 2019

The Marvel Legends 2020 Doctor Doom figure looks outstanding, and is a (very) early candidate for 2020 Figure of the Year in the making.

If you pull his cape off, you can see thrusters on Doom’s back that can fit the repulsor effects pieces from Iron Man ML. Cool!!

Besides what he was shown with at the Marvel Design Team interview today, Doom also will come with a fist, a trigger finger and an alternate classic mask. This figure is gonna be one hot seller to start off 2020 right!

Fantastic Four Marvel Legends Mr. Fantastic and The Thing Figures NYCC 2019

The Marvel Legends Fantastic Four Series should be up for order around the end of 2019, and has an official on-sale date of 1/1/2020. The series is confirmed to be six figures and a Build-A-Figure, so we know the whole wave now except for whatever the BAF is going to be (which should be announced in the next few weeks). I also have a ton more photos of these figures that I’ll be uploading to the Marvel Toy News Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Pages later on tonight, so check those out if you’re interested!

How do you feel about the grand mass-market return of Marvel’s first family with the Fantastic Four Legends series, Marvel collectors? Who are you hoping the Build-A-Figure is, and what figures (if any) are on your hit list from this assortment?

NYCC 2019: Marvel Legends Fantastic Four Series Figures Photos! — 34 Comments

  1. Yeah, I’m totally buying this whole wave. I have the Walgreens/EBGames ones, save for Infamous Iron Man Doom, but these look amazing in the modern costumes.
Guessing Thing and Doom will be double-packs.
Very curious about the BAF. Annihilus? Galactus? Dragon Man? There are so many options.

  2. I am hoping they would eventually have an Original Human Torch / Jim Hammond. Three possibilities…original red costume, classic fully-aflame with no face, or modern SHIELD Torch uniform.

    • Dooooooooooooooooooooooooooom! Indeed! I have the last two Doctor Dooms (ToyBiz and Hasbro). I usually sell my older figures whenever they make a retooled version of a classic. But I simply cannot let go of my Dooms. This is a great thing they’re doing, in my opinion.

  3. I need that Doom in my life. Like immediately. Can’t wait for him.

Other figures are neat, I’m especially digging Sue’s shield. Prefer the Walgreens exclusives, but these will be nice to have.

  4. Depends on the BAF for me. I LOVE Doom here, but I can do without everything else if need be. I do like the effects shield for Sue and her head sculpt, so if I don’t care about the BAF, I’d probably get just her and Doom. Really dislike the black costumes, and She-Hulk will always be green to me. But with the right BAF, I’d accept the things I don’t like about them, and get them anyway.

    • Almost my sentiments exactly. The BAF will be the deciding factor for me to shell out for this wave but I’m only interested in Doom if the BAF isn’t up to snuff.

    • I echo basically everything you said. I’m not a fan of the modern costumes, since I don’t read comics anymore, so I’m content with the classic versions from Walgreens that I have. I used the extra Scarlet Spider head with the blonde hair from the vintage wave and put it on a Mr. Fantastic body, so I already have a Johnny Storm, and it passes pretty well for Johnny.

I think I might like the Sue head sculpt better on this new one than the Walgreens, and the invisible shield is probably worth getting, and I may head swap the new head on the classic body for her.

And Dr. Doom is a must! And yes, I hope I have no interest in the BAF!

    • He’s the only figure I need since I could never find the Walgreens one, so its either this version or pay high prices on eBay for the Walgreens one.

      • I found one (loose) for $35 shipped on ebay. I know that’s way more than 20 bucks at original retail, but it’s also way less than the average selling price on ebay/amazon. Keep looking for deals.
At any rate, I think this new thing looks goofy. Something about that head sculpt is off

      • Check your local community with OfferUp. I was able to get one for $25 in Tuscon today and there is still one more seller in the area with that price.

    • Kylie Jenner Lip Kit Thing, in the house.

Watch as the ever lovin’ blue-eyed Thing pouts dramatically while rocking his new emo trousers and Nerf brand FF belt.

It’s the latest thing in Marvel-chic, didn’t you know?

  5. I’ll buy just because I collect but we just had all the F4 figures from Walgreens,Doom and She-Hulk are must haves

  6. Those .figures look absolutely awful. Especially considering there’s no need for them. The she hulk looks great as does the Doom – but the FF look like trash sadly, not an improvement…

    • No need?!? There are no walgreens in most countries and new effect pieces are allways a win.

      • Do other countries not have access to the internet? It’s not like you need to physically walk into a Walgreens to buy these. They have a website.

        • Yes, but most times the shipping ends up costing more than the figure itself… Besides no one is forcing you to buy every single figure they release…

          • At what point did anyone say they were being forced to buy anything? If you want it, buy it. Use their website. Use ebay. Use amazon. Stop use “not finding figures in-store” as an excuse and whining about it. Brick and mortar isn’t your only resource. Stop acting like it is. If you’re allergic to spending money you shouldn’t be collecting action figures in the first place.

          • Don`t bother…. some people just want`s to complain about everything they don´t want/need. Besides, most americans doesn`t realise that shipping to nordic countries mostly costs more than atleast three figures… the hobby is not cheap and we all know this going in…

    • No need?!? There are no walgreens in most countries and new effect pieces are always a win.

  7. I love the FF, bit their modern uniforms don’t impress me. However, they’re still worth having. This is a great thing. As for the BAF – there aren’t too terribly many FF characters who are worthy of a BAF (in my opinion). So I am going to make a guess and say that the BAF will be Galactus. Not the same magnificent scale as the ToyBiz Galactus BAF, but I’m guessing it will be Galactus.

    • They would never do a big BAF again. There is no room inside the reduced sized packages. Still, they need to do a Super Skrull. The Toy Biz one(s) is super rare and this race of aliens is making it to the MCU, so I bet there is a lot of demand for one.

  8. This entire wave is just made of win for me, honestly even if the BAF isn’t good, i’m Getting all of these.

  9. I’m pretty satisfied with my Walgreen’s FF lot even though a customization job on this upcoming wave’s Human Torch could be a slight possibility. I’m excited about the Doom figure and the BAF will determine the assault on my wallet.

  10. This looks great, not sure why we have the F4 again, but I guess not everyone had access to Walgreens especially the Best Thing ever. There were rumours about the Super Skull, then I heard it got pulled, so maybe that is the baf.

  11. I don’t understand why they changed the headsculpt on Mr. Fantastic, this one looks like a mix between Namor and Multiple Man, I don’t care for it.

  12. I hope the BAF is Lockjaw, or they should release a Lockjaw/Crystal Riders set along with Kazar/Zabu & Devil Dinosaur/Moon Girl/Moon Boy Riders Series Set. Depending on the BAF, I am only interested in She Hulk. But I do see potential for Reed’s alternate hands to make a Skin from Generation X, Johnny;s accesories can be used to make Magma, and Sue’s force field effect can be used for Cecilia Reyes or Skids

  13. These are cool but I don’t dig the modern costumes; they seem a bit inverted. I would love to see Future Foundation costumes and more FF villains. As it stands the only Future Foundation figure to be distributed was Spider-man. Rad Doom though. The previous (Ronan) Doom is hard to beat but they managed it.
