In a bit of a surprising twist this morning, Hot Toys simultaneously announced their MMS 224 Thor The Dark World Thor Movie Masterpiece Series figure at the same time as they announced the limited variant for the figure. If you’ve been waiting with bated breath for Hot Toys to churn out an unspeakably lame exclusive, you’re in luck! I’m one of those people whose eyes Hot Toys can ordinarily do no wrong in, but even I have to admit this particular limited Hot Toys figure is pretty weak. Coming in 2014–the MMS 225 Hot Toys Thor Light Asgardian Armor Version Figure is now available for order!
Really–that’s the big difference. Hot Toys took Thor’s chain mail under-armor off. “That’s right, Thor fans–now your Chris Hemsworth Thor figure can finally go sleeveless as he was always meant to be!” [/sarcasm]
The rocky ground diorama base that this Light Asgardian Armor Thor Hot Toys figure comes with would be pretty cool–if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s not even exclusive to this figure. Instead, Hot Toys is doing a straight-up repack of the rocky base that came with their limited Hot Toys Evil Superman figure earlier this year. No, seriously–it’s the same base. It’s nice and all, but for this limited release that is most assuredly going to be a pain to get, couldn’t Hot Toys have come up with something a bit more… exclusive?
Hot Toys has noted that the limited Thor The Dark World Light Armor Version Thor figure will be available “for selected markets only”, meaning that it’s going to be a hard-to-get figure like the Hot Toys Midas Iron Man and Battle-Damaged Mark VII Iron Man figure that are selling for $600+ on ebay. Call me crazy, but I suspect collectors will not be throwing around that kind of money with a fervor to claim this Hot Toys Limited Thor Light Asgardian Armor MMS 225 figure for their very own, but we shall see…
The Hot Toys Thor Light Asgardian Armor Version sixth scale figure is now available to order exclusively through the Sideshow Collectibles website once it goes up for sale (although a United States release for the figure isn’t confirmed at this time). The figure is a Sideshow exclusive in the United States and limited to one-per-person, so don’t wait for this figure to be listed at other retailers if you want this exclusive Thor.
What do you think of the Light Armor Thor Hot Toys figure, Marvel collectors? Is this variant worth your $230, or will you be satisfied with the regular version of this figure?
