The postal service is infuriatingly slow delivering my latest Diamond Select Toys figure (grumble grumble), so that meant I had to take a field trip down to the mall this week to at least take packaged photos of the first Marvel Select figure to arrive this year! He may not be in the upper-echelon of most beloved Marvel villains, but I’ve seen firsthand now just how drop-dead gorgeous and amazing this Marvel Select Destroyer Odin figure is…Continue Reading →
When Funko debuted their DC Rock Candy vinyl figures of Harley Quinn and Batgirl and such way back at New York Toy Fair 2016 in February, I wondered whether or not the line would be expanding to cover Marvel females as well. It took eight months, but on the eve of NYCC 2016, we finally have an answer: “Yes!” The first six Funko Marvel Rock Candy figures are now up for order, including Spider-Gwen, Lady Thor, She-Hulk and more!Continue Reading →
Over the weekend I talked about a trio of new Kotobukiya Marvel statues that unexpectedly debuted at SDCC 2016 last week–but I didn’t talk about the statues we were expecting to see that were revealed there. Such is the case with a piece I was skeptical about–right up until I saw it. It might be one of the very best (and most classy) additions to the Marvel Bishoujo line yet: the 1/7 Kotobukiya Lady Thor Bishoujo statue is now up for order!Continue Reading →
When Diamond Select Toys teased a new “big” Marvel Select figure coming up this year, I heard a huge range of characters guessed, with some of the most popular choices being Apocalypse and Abomination.
But the latest “big daddy” Marvel Select figure actually turns out to actually be a real “big daddy”–the Marvel Select Odin the Destroyer figure is now up for order! And this figure is a monster…Continue Reading →
I heard rumblings a couple weeks ago during Toy Fair that the 2016 Marvel Legends Comic Packs two-packs had landed in the United States, and I’ve been in hot pursuit ever since.
Today, I finally tracked them down at retail–including the hotly-awaited Lady Thor and Sam Wilson Captain America action figures. But while there’s lots to love here, I know some collectors will be disappointed…Continue Reading →
When you’re the biggest female breakout star Marvel has had in many years, you don’t have to wait long for your first statue to be released! This weekend at the 2016 Winter Wonder Festival, the Kotobukiya Spider-Gwen Bishoujo statue was fully revealed–including an unmasked Gwen Stacy head!
But Gwen’s not coming alone–Kotobukiya Bishoujo Loki (!!!) and Lady Thor statues were also announced at the event!Continue Reading →
While I thought it was going to be a quiet week due to that “Star Wars” thing going around, it turns out that we’re actually getting bombarded with fresh Marvel toy news! And one of the new items announced regards one of the hottest characters of the past two years: Lady Thor!
Diamond Select Toys drew first blood with their Lady Thor Minimates figure earlier this year, and now they’re turning to the statue front: the Lady Thor Femme Fatales statue is now up for order!Continue Reading →
I did coverage of almost every new Marvel figure and collectible that debuted at New York Comic Con 2015 last month. Almost.
But there was one company I never got around to talking about. Maybe that’s for he best, though, because their biggest reveals from the show have now been fully revealed in final form: the Beast Kingdom Egg Attack Captain America and Thor figures are now up for order!Continue Reading →
Way back at San Diego Comic-Con 2015 (you know–two months ago), Diamond Select Toys announced that they were reentering the Marvel statue business with their revived line of Clayburn Moore Marvel Premier Collection statues! The line kicked off with a Wolverine statue that didn’t receive the warmest reception from some collectors, but the second release in the line is a statue fans have been demanding for a decade: the long-lost Silver Age Thor statue by Clayburn Moore is now up for order!Continue Reading →
Here’s a factoid to give Marvel Hot Toys collectors nightmares: Hot Toys has already posted a double-digit number of Avengers Age of Ultron Hot Toys sixth scale figures for sale this year, with a total cost of over four thousand dollars–and the team isn’t even complete yet!
But after today, the roster will have just one empty spot remaining–the MMS 306 Hot Toys Thor Age of Ultron figure is now up for order! And to my surprise, this Thor is a lot cooler than I expected…Continue Reading →
I know most folks have been overall very happy with the last few Marvel Legends Thor figures that Hasbro has released, but I’ve never been fully satisfied. As nice as those figures are, I don’t feel like they capture the power and majesty of the God of Thunder. But where I feel like Hasbro falls a tad short, coming off of over a decade of producing Final Fantasy figures, Square-Enix knows exactly how to make a figure look mythic! And as part of their new-for-2015 Variant line, they’re getting their chance to make Thor look really divine: the Play Arts Kai Thor figure is now available for order!Continue Reading →
I mentioned in my review of the Jubilee Bishoujo statue yesterday that there was a first time for everything. Well, I guess today it’s time for another first, because I’m going to be discussing something that can probably only be considered a “toy” at all by the barest of margins. The latest Marvel statues (of a sort) come from Rubie’s Costume Company–and they actually serve a functional purpose! The Rocket Raccoon, Thor and Venom Candy Bowl Holders are now up for order!Continue Reading →
Going into last week’s New York Toy Fair 2015, I thought we’d be lucky if Square-Enix just brought along a prototype of the second Marvel Play Arts Kai figure: Spider-Man.
But I underestimated Square-Enix. Not only did they have the finished Spidey on display at their booth, but also the third action figure in the lineup, Play Arts Kai Thor, and even concept art for the fourth figure: Play Arts Kai Venom!Continue Reading →
Yesterday I kicked off my series of reviews of the Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 1 figures with my Marvel Legends Machine Man review, but I thought I’d shake things up a bit today by jumping straight to the Build-A-Figure… or rather, Build-A-Figures!
The identity of the Allfather varies depending upon the time period in the Marvel Universe you’re reading about, but now you can pick from two for your display: it’s the Marvel Legends Odin Review (and King Thor Review)!Continue Reading →
When Hot Toys announced we’d be seeing some of their Avengers: Age of Ultron Movie Masterpiece Series figures debut at this week’s Toy Soul 2014 event, I kinda didn’t realize that they meant they were bringing almost the whole lineup to the show. Even so, Hot Toys brought the core six members of the Avengers, as well as Thanos and Hulkbuster Iron Man to the event. But while some figures look polished and amazing, some of them are clearly just in-development placeholders. And the most obvious culprits of being works-in-progress are the Age of Ultron Thor and Hulk figures…Continue Reading →
