Hallmark Ornament Premiere comes but twice a year (no, seriously, they have two), and this year’s event brought with it the release of two brand new 2013 Marvel Hallmark Ornaments! For fans of the Marvel movies, it’s an Iron Patriot ornament in honor of this year’s “Iron Man 3” movie! And for comic book and cartoon fans, there’s a classic Spider-Man ornament that plays a familiar jingle. I stopped by my local Hallmark Ornament Premiere this morning to check out both!
The ornament plays the classic “Spider-Man, Spider-Man, Does Whatever a Spider Can” jingle whenever you press a button on top of the roof. I wanted to take video of the ornament playing the Spider-Man song, but every time I pulled my phone out the two Hallmark customer service grannys gave me death glares like I was going to rip all the ornaments off the wall and run out the door with them, so I gave up–for now. I’ll try to take video of the ornament another time.
Meanwhile, the 2013 Hallmark Iron Patriot ornament is actually surprisingly good-looking. Hallmark used a nice, shiny paint on the ornament that I would say is about equivocal to the paint quality on the Marvel Legends Iron Patriot. The sculpting is pretty solid for a Christmas ornament, and it makes me smile to wonder whether the Iron Patriot ornament depict the President of the United States wearing the Iron Patriot armor or not. I don’t know that I want this $14.95 Iron Patriot Hallmark ornament on my Christmas tree, but it is well-done at least.
And for those wondering–yes, refreshments were served at my local Hallmark for the 2013 Ornament Premiere event. The bottled water was a surprise, but the cookies were unfortunately very cheap and cardboard tasting. I was hoping that a store staffed entirely by 60+-year-old women would have some really awesome, home-baked cookies, but alas. No such luck. Uh. Anyway…
Both the Hallmark Iron Man 3 Iron Patriot Ornament and the “Here Comes the Spider-Man!” Spider-Man ornament have now been released in all Hallmark stores across the United States. These ornaments were mass produced and should not run out until close to (or after) Christmas, so if you want them, you should still have loads of times to pick them up.
