The polling for the 2016 Marvel Legends Fan’s Choice poll has come to an end, and now it’s literally all over but the shouting–because as expected, the master of the Sonic Scream herself has won this year’s Hasbro 6″ Marvel Legends Fan’s Choice Poll: Songbird! How close was the voting and who placed next after Songbird? Read on for the full results…
As soon as I saw the eight choices in this year’s Hasbro Marvel Legends Fan Choice poll, I was reasonably sure that founding Thunderbolts member Songbird had the contest in the bag.
And now, a few weeks later, that prediction has become a reality, as the ex-Screaming Mimi herself will finally be arriving as part of a Marvel Legends 2018 figures series!
While Hasbro hasn’t officially announced what line the Songbird Marvel Legends 6″ figure will be in, with her release scheduled for 2018, I think we can safely assume she’ll be in one of the early waves of 2018 Avengers Infinity War Marvel Legends figures.
Hasbro first showed a prototype of Songbird way back at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, so Melissa’s release will come over three and a half years since that prototype was debuted.
I would hope that the figure we actually get in another 18 months from now will be an updated and better-looking figure than the one we saw at SDCC 2014–complete with long hair and pink translucent wings, please.
The rounded, approximate results for this year’s poll are as follows:
Total Votes: ~2,800
- Songbird: ~1,200 Votes
- Typhoid Mary: ~700 Votes
- Citizen V: ~500 Votes
- White Rabbit: ~400 Votes
As Songbird received around as many votes as the #2 and #3 competitors put together, this was clearly a landslide win for Melissa Joan Gold. Congratulations, Thunderbolts fans!
Are you excited to see Songbird win the 2016 Fan’s Choice Poll, Marvel collectors, or were you voting for one of the other competitors? And if you are planning to snag a Songbird action figure, which costume and hairstyle for her are you hoping for?
I voted for song bird so I’m happy.
If Scream or Lasher had been up against White Rabbit, they’d’ve wiped her clean off the map.
The only reason White Rabbit got to the final 4 is because she was up against an even more generic character that no one cares about.
Hopefully Hasbro will update the figure… the original body she had was the Mystique / Madame Hydra body, that was the worst body mold Hasbro has produced…
I guess no hurry for new costume Spider Woman or, god forbid, a comic-version Sif when we have White Rabbit and Typhoid Mary to choose from!
I’d be surprised if Sif and All-New Spider-Woman don’t show up in the 2017 Marvel Legends lineup, so it’s better they’re not in the 2018 poll. π
hey dabid, every time i click on a archive (for example may 2014) it doesnβt work. Why is that? It use to work before and it was very helpful.
That is a very good question! I’ll have to troubleshoot it this week when I get a few minutes. I’m guessing there’s an old plugin somewhere in the site code I need to revise. Thanks for the heads up!
Looking at the 2014 pic, it says “ARP”, which I presume means ” average retail price”, of $14.99. We’re at $19.99 now. I hate the thought of the possibility that in 2018 we might be paying $24.99 for these ML figures, A commenter on a past article was moaning that they’re now paying $30 a piece up in Canada. Yikes!
… Mainly because the Canadian dollar sucks.
$30 Canadian dollars is about $23 US dollars.
I did not realize the Canadian exchange rate had dropped so much over the last several years. I was in Vancouver several years ago and the exchange rate then was about even.
We currently pay around 35-40 Dollars in Mexico… So it could be worst.
My local comic shop knows that our dollar in Canada is low and is taking advantage of it and selling figures at 35-40$ a piece. It really sucks
Has anyone heard about us getting a Jane Foster Thor in 6″ scale from Legends?
No word, but since Hasbro came out with the female intermediate body mold (Angela) I think it’s safe to assume it’s coming.
Weren’t those hammer/head sculpt previews for a new female Thor figure?
Nope that was obviously classic Thor
I’d be willing to bet there will be one next year in the Thor: Ragnarok wave.
I’d love to see an effects piece where you pop off her head, and attach the piece to her neck. Then when the head is back on it looks like the effect piece is coming from her mouth
Any idea when we’ll be getting around to releasing the SDCC Archangel with the duller gray wings like we planned, Hasbro?
You already announced Songbird. Years ago. And never released her What’s next years poll? Moonstar, Multiple Man or Lyra? I call BS.
