Revoltech is one of the most renowned and frequently imported action figure lines in the world, so it was only a matter of time until they decided to expand into new areas. But instead of getting bigger, the Kaiyodo Revoltech line is getting smaller–with a new series of Revoltech Micro figures (called Revolmini)! Considering that Iron Man has been one of the most produced Revoltech figures ever, it was only a matter of time until a Revolmini Iron Man appeared. And that time has come–the RM-003 Revoltech Mini Iron Man Mark VI is now available for pre-order!

Kaiyodo made some eclectic choices for their first two Revolmini Micro figures in the form of a Revoltech Micro Solid Snake figure (from Metal Gear Solid) and a Revoltech Micro Suguru Kinniku (from a decades old wrestling anime, of all things).

I’m pretty well-versed in anime, but I definitely wasn’t expecting a Revoltech Suguru Kinniku to show up before the first Revoltech Micro Iron Man figure. Luckily, the first Revol Mini Iron Man will be flying in just a few weeks after his anime wrestler and mercenary super-spy predecessors!

While most licensees are still churning out product for Iron Man 3, Kaiyodo has decided to take a retro approach and jump way back in time for their first Micro Yamaguchi Revolmini Iron Man figure. Rather than an Iron Man 3 armor or even an Avengers Iron Man, the Revoltech RM-003 Iron Man Mark VI figure is from the ever-popular Iron Man 2 instead.

Whereas the typical Iron Man Revoltech figures stand just over 6″ tall, the Iron Man Mark VI Revoltech Micro Yamaguchi figure is (obviously) smaller. I was a bit surprised to find out, however, that the Iron Man Revolmini figure isn’t that much smaller–at 115mm tall (or 4.5″), the Revolmini Iron Man Mark VI RM-003 is only an inch and a half (or 25%) smaller than the traditional Revoltech Iron Man action figures.

Based on the photos and information available for the Iron Man Mark VI Revolmini figure, I’m not terribly excited thus far. The figure has 16 points of articulation–the smallest number of joints of any Kaiyodo Revoltech Iron Man figure ever released, and is in a scale that is totally incompatible with any other line of Marvel figures on the market.

The Revoltech RM-003 Iron Man Mark VI micro figure looks pretty nice in isolation, but it definitely is a bit lacking in aesthetics, detailing, and accessories compared to its big brothers in the regular Revoltech line.

You still get two pairs of alternate hands and some blast effects for the Iron Man Revoltech Micro figure, but the accessories just aren’t as impressive here as they are on a regular-sized (and more expensive) Revoltech action figure.

The Revoltech Micro Iron Man Mark VI figure is now available for pre-order, with an expected release date of August 2014. I’m probably going to pass on this Revolmini Iron Man figure for now, as I’m already invested in the 6″ Revoltech Iron Man lineup.
